My boss sent the Form 4B over four weeks ago. He sent it Priority Mail with tracking and according to the tracking, it got delivered. I sent in my Form 4 with tracking as well over four weeks ago and it also got delivered. So they have the forms for 4 weeks now. Never heard anything from them. I checked the Online Verification site to see if my name is there with a license #, but nothing. I sent them an email a few days ago and no response.

I’m in NY. How long does it take for New Yorkers to get their license after submitting Forms 4 and 4B?

I'm sure every state is different, but I submitted all my paperwork here in Georgia in early December '13. After 4 weeks, I got an acknowledgment of receipt and an email stating my application was subject to the final verification process. After 5 more weeks, I finally, FINALLY, got my license. Now, I have to wait 4-6 weeks for the wall certificate.

    Hopefully, NY is much faster.

See this thread for full rundown of many of our experiences in New York. Mine took three months. If your supervisor on Form 4B is licensed in a state other than the one in which you've been working, there's a good chance they'll reject it initially and you'll need a different supervisor to complete it.

I sent my Form 4 and my employer sent the Form 4B on December 18th, 2013. I emailed the NYSED in late January for a status. They advised that my application had been received by the State Board on January 9th. They said the board takes 10-12 weeks to review the application and issue the license. They said to contact them after 12 weeks from January 9th if I have not received any notification. Based on their communication, I should expect my license no later than the first week of April. So from mailing the forms to receipt of license seems like the normal process is approx. 14-16 weeks. Hope this helps.

Wow! I just got a response from the email I sent them. I guess it takes them a few days to respond. They said all forms have been received and were sent to the board for review at the end of January. Due to the high volume of applications that need to be reviewed, I should allow 10-12 weeks for review. I should hear back by mid-April. They said if I don't hear anything by then, I should contact them again.

I didn't know it takes that long. In this thread, it took this person only three weeks:

Oh well. Just gotta be patient. I, honestly, don't care if all goes well in the end. But if I wait 12 weeks and get rejected, I will be annoyed to no end!

Yes it only took me three weeks. I guess at the time they processed them faster. My friend who passed and sent in her forms in 2012…it took her three months!

After this loooooong wait and checking the Online Verification site daily, my name finally appeared on the site today. Wow, I'm so happy!! CPAMan is finally a CPA!!! Woohoo!!! I can't believe I finally got this license. I never thought this day would come, but it did. What a long journey, but I'm so glad it's over. Well, for now anyway because I'm going to have to worry about CPE credits soon.

Congrats!!! Still waiting here.. NY. Apparently they didn't get my last score until March 12 and they said 10-12 weeks from then. I think it's ridiculous that they can take this long. The wait is killing me – we've been through enough, this should be the easy part!

    BEC - 68, 75 (2/3/14)
    AUD - 75 (11/30/12)
    REG - 73, 75 (10/8/12)
    FAR - 78 (8/31/13)

    DONE!!! Waiting for License!!

Thanks! And yeah, I know…. it's like all we do is wait. We wait for scores. Now we have to wait for the license.

The state received my forms on Apr 5th. Didn't open them and send to boards until April 25th. It's now July 21st and I'm still waiting. I just called and they said to give them a few more weeks. How the hell does it take this long? I'm going crazy over here!
