You don't have to take the other sections first in order to pass BEC. What people say is that having some knowledge from the other ones might help you on the written portion of BEC, but it doesn't mean that you can't pass it without the other sections. Read the tips in your study materials on how to put together a response and use key words, etc.

    R - 74;88
    A - 84
    B - 74;89
    F - no study = 67; May 15 = 87 & done

The graders don't really grade what you write. They want to make sure you are able to write. Focus on making no grammar errors and you'll do fine.

    FAR-81!!
    AUD-69, Retake: 84!!
    REG-86!!
    BEC-81!!

English is not my first language and that's why I ran out of time for BEC, spent so much time trying to revise my WC.

To answer your question, I think it would be counterproductive to study the other parts just for this portion of the exam. Instead, you should look over the sample answers from books (I had a Wiley book) or even Becker has some I think. And try to imitate the writing style used on those examples. I also practiced writing a couple of times before the test.

The important thing is to learn to recognize the parts of a memo like the intro, content, conclusion/recommendation.. and to sound as confident (even though you're not sure of the facts) and as professional as possible. I got that advise somewhere from these forums 🙂 and don't use abbreviations!

    BEC 82 Nov 2012 | REG 80 Feb 2013 | FAR 76!!! Apr 2013 | AUD 69 May 2013 | AUD 83!!! Aug 2013
