Shocking AUD score!!!

The first time I took the auditing exam, I studied pretty hard for 3 months and did all Wiley Mcqs and some Wiley test bank questions and scoring around 75%-80%. I ended up scoring 74, just missed passing (stronger Mcqs, but weak TBS). Next time around I didn’t want to leave anything to chance and I wanted to do ALL Wiley book questions and ALL test bank questions, and make sure this time I did all TBS. Studied for about 2 months at the library to really lock down on studying. I was scoring a solid 90%-95% on everything, I was feeling confident.

    Test day

After taking the exam the second time I felt like it was tricky, but felt like I caught those questions in the mcq. I finished the test on time, and got 2 research questions which took me a while but found them both word for word. I left the exam like I did OK. I would be surprised if I didn’t passed.

As the exam timed out my screen went complete blank, a white screen. I went to the proctor and he said he never received my test through his end. He refreshed his screen but no luck. So he went back to my computer and reseted it, reassuring me that everything was ok and all of my test answers are saved on their servers. We tried it again and still no luck, my exam was still not showing up transmitted on his computer. Since my computer was having problems, he logged on to another computer and typed in my launch code, and it finally showed up on the proctors computer as transferred.

Fast forward to this morning and I received my score, a 59!!! This is not a typo a 59. This is a score of somebody who didn’t study. My jaw dropped to say the least. I studied reg for one month and I got a 67, missing a lot of questions. I understand that sometimes feeling good about the test is not indicative of a passing score since the exam is adaptive but c’mon a 59?!!!! I dunno what to do. Should I call prometric, or the boards of California. I have no idea. I know from lurking on online CPA boards that protesting is of no use, but I am sure this is an error. So if ANYBODY has advice please comment and let me know how to go about this matter. To make this matter worse I already passed REG with an 80 and time is ticking for me. It expires 10/14 but you guys know how time flies. Thank you for hearing me out and any suggestion would be much appreciated.

So you got your confirmation of attendance, right? Maybe you can call the the authority who does re-scores and they can look at your answers. Sounds like something went horribly awry…

Ya got a printed confirmation of attendance from Prometric after the exam. It's just so disheartening seeing that score and knowing you worked so hard =(. Just got off the phone with the location I took the test at and they gave me their 1-800 number. Unfortunately they don't open on weekends. Do you think I should also contact NASBA?

Well, first tax and audit are two different type of exams, as I am sure you know that just my little input. Standard is compare Reg to FAR and Audit to BEC. It's normal for audit that one can easily pick the incorrect answer due to practical audit experience as in audit one has to see behind the wall while what on front of the wall seem very convincing ,,,once you start to study again you will realize that ohhhhhhhhhhhhh that what I was doing wrong,,it happened to me,,,prometric and CA board can't help and also CA board don't accept request for re-grading,,,,

You said your screen went blank at the end… maybe something happened and some of your answers (possibly even the entire SIM section) got lost? I don't know who you would contact to confirm this, but I think you have a right to get this confirmed since you had a computer error 🙁

    REG 10/12/13 - 94
    FAR 10/17/13 - 93
    AUD 11/11/13 - 92
    BEC 11/20/13 - 87
    ethics 11/27/13 - 92%

Hang in there jternida1.I also got a shocking result for the AUD under CBA this morning. I felt really good after the exams as used the AL and found 4 questions word for word and the rest of the Sim was just a piece of cake as Wiley really prepared me for the exams. The first time I took the AUD I just did only 2 Sims , lack of enough time preparation and my first time with the CPA exams gave me a score of 61 . I was not surprise as when I walked out of the exams hall I told every body that I had failed and true to my prediction I did fail. But this Nov 2013 AUD for me was just a piece of cake. As I knew almost all the question irrespective of the tricks. My testlet was medium ,harder to hardest but I was very sure I will pass I check my answer to most of the tricky test and there were right. How come this shocking result of 53!!!!!!!!!!! Can't believe it and I am confuse whether to proceed with my FAR exams in Jan or retake this AUD in Jan . I am still in shock and very angry with my self that I do not what to even look at the AUD material. May be they had to curved our scores or……..

From taking hundreds of audit Mcqs I know audit is a very very tricky. I'm just in shock of my score. I felt that I improved drastically from my first exam but I somehow did worse by 15 points! I guess it's hard for me to believe I just completely bombed this exam

    AUD: 74, 67, 76!
    BEC: 70, 75!
    FAR: 76!
    REG: 67, 73, 79!

@runnerup, it happened to me as well once but to make long story short, once you exit the testlet it saved now, when time ends in normal sequence the whole exam is saved and when you get the confirmation letter from prometric means your exam has been received and will be transmitted to NASBA,,,

but I read a case where a student had problem with computer while doing MCQ's not SIMS yet then they changed the computer in the middle, after launching code the exam took him directly to SIMS escaped the undone MCQ's part,,,but even in this worst case he got free rescheduling of his exam only,,,as both prometric and NASBA can't do anything about it, its just bad luck,,,
