What’s the shortest amount of time you guys have ever used to study for AUD and still passed? 8 Weeks? 6 Weeks? Or even 4 Weeks?

Also, this question just doesn’t have to apply to AUD. What’s the shortest study time for any section you have ever passed?

Thanks in advance for the input everyone!!!

    AUD - 83
    BEC - 79
    FAR - 77
    REG - 90
CMA Part 1 - 360 (Barely made it but I made it)
CMA Part 2 - 360 (Made it by the skin of my teeth)

    REG - 74, Retook 6/10/16, scored a 72 (Hate this exam)
    BEC - 69, 79, 8/1/15
    AUD - 83, 4/4/15
    FAR - 77, 2/27/16

I studied for 3.5 weeks for both AUD and BEC and passed with decent scores. But one thing to keep in mind is that I am a recent grad, and audit was the last accounting course I took in school. So I decided to take AUD first, so a lot of the material was easy for me to pick up on. Same for BEC.

I studied for 4 weeks and that was enough, for sure. 3 probably would've been doable. But I have three years of audit experience and had taken the exam once before (several years prior, albeit)

4 weeks for REG… during tax season, that sucked.

AUD is certainly doable in 4 weeks

I'm curious to hear what the shortest amount of time was done for FAR… this thing is a beast

    BEC - ✔
    REG - ✔
    AUD - ✔
    FAR - 11/29/14

CPAExcel, Ninja MCQs, and a sh*t ton of coffee

I did 6 for FAR and 3 for BEC (I have a finance/corp acct background). I planned 6 but only ended up with 4 for REG…and same for AUD. Quality over quantity people its the best way to go. Also keep the law of diminishing returns in mind when studying long sessions. If you study for 6 hours….The 6th hour might only provide a fraction of the value that the 1st hour did….

I did 16 days of all-day, every-day Audit the two weeks after graduating.

Best way to start the summer, ever….. lol

But I honestly preferred it to the 8 weeks or so that I spent on FAR, while trying to juggle being really engaged/doing well in school.

It really is all up to the person. 🙂

    And the test. 😛

10 days of non-stop studying for AUD as I took time off from work. I took a similar approach to every section, and used my excess PTO bank to stay home and study for each section in a similar manner.

    AUD - 93
    BEC - 80
    REG - 86
    FAR - 83

14 days while working 50 hrs a week. It was 2-3 hrs per weekday and 4-5 hrs on Saturday. No time on Sunday.

There really isn't much material to study for AUD.

I studied for AUD for 5 weeks with essentially zero background in the material (I've only had two online audit courses and neither were very informative) and passed with a 75 using mainly the NINJA Notes and MCQs. Most days I only had 2.5-3 hours of studying time in since I work full-time, so my overall prep time wasn't all that much.

For my other exams, I took and passed BEC after 2.5 weeks of studying and REG after 3.5 weeks of studying. Unfortunately, my studying time for FAR has now clocked in at 3.5 months, but that's because I failed my first attempt and just kept studying through until my re-take, which was yesterday.

In addition to amandilee, did anyone else only use the Ninja Products to pass AUD. I have about five or six weeks to prepare for AUD, and I'm attempting to build my confidence. I'm using the Ninja Audio, Notes and MCQ. Also, did all of you have time to rewrite the Ninja Notes? If so, how did you find the time, outside of work and family. I need some advice on time management as well. I'm married, with a one year old son (who runs, jumps and climbs on everything, this kid goes 100 miles per minute all day), and a full time job in public accounting (right in the middle of our busy season).

@amandilee can you tell me what was your game plan for Reg? I mean how did you utilize each day. I will be sitting for Reg on 11/30 and I will probably get 3 weeks off from work. So I will be studying full time but i don't know how to go about it as I've no background of Tax. I will be using Becker mainly but I do have Ninja notes and Audio with me as well.

    BEC - 78

You only need about 5-8 weeks to study for Audit – this is assuming you work full time, probably have kids, etc. You can still pass the Audit exam without any actual Audit experience. @Zubairs I had no tax experience at all before taking REG and I did fine on it. The key to REG is focusing on the tax portion. Make sure you understand the tax aspect.

    REG - 87

I'm giving myself 5 weeks for Audit. I'm still going to school full time so hopefully 5 weeks is enough.

I took the summer off to study but ran into a bunch of things (such as moving and then taking a job earlier than I wanted to because I really liked it) that inhibited my time to study. I studied about 6 weeks for FAR which was enough to “pass” (I failed because of SIMs, I only gave myself 20 minutes to do them but was “stronger” compared to other candidates for MC). Two and a half weeks for BEC (it overlapped a little with FAR) was good enough to get an 86 but I love the topics in that exam. Two weeks each for AUD and REG meant failing them but it at least gave me enough time to become acquainted with the concepts.

Round 2 is one exam per month. I feel pretty good about FAR and even better about Audit (I'm a week ahead of schedule and finished all study questions/sims for Becker, which I didn't do the first time). I guess time will tell if my score improves.

I studied about 3 weeks for AUD and got a 91, so may have over-studied. However, auditing “clicked” in college (approx 1 year prior), so I think that helped me. FWIW, I was working during this time, about 35 hrs/wk, but no kids.

To @OnmywaytoCPA and @zubairs,for all of my exam sections except BEC I first went through the NINJA Notes to the point of memorization. This usually takes me about a week of studying 2.5-3 hours a night and maybe 3-4 hours each day of the weekend. After that, I just repeatedly go through the NINJA MCQs for the same amount of time each day and take notes on topics I'm unfamiliar with, reading back through those notes and the NINJA Notes every few days. For the 2 or 3 days before each exam, I do one final thorough review of all of my notes and then just drill the NINJA MCQs without worrying about notes at that point.

I'll admit I was nervous when I sat for REG since I wasn't sure how well prepared I was from just the NINJA Notes and MCQs but after that exam I knew they'd be more than enough going forward. I used Roger and the WTB to study for BEC and that exam was very rough for me- I still managed to pass but a lot of the exam questions were on things I'd never seen before. I haven't had that problem once since then as literally ALL of the material on the exams now seems familiar. It may be more difficult to get 85+ scores on the exams studying for an abbreviated period of time, but a passing score on every exam is absolutely possible with just NINA materials.
