Should I bother reapplying to the same CPA firm?

    Dear all,

I attended the second round interview (office visit) for a tax associate position with a top ten firm just last month. Unfortunately, I received a rejection email last week. I just checked my school’s career center website and noticed that the same firm is now recruiting for audit associates. I really loved the culture of this firm and I want to give it a second shot. Do you guys think it’s a good idea to apply again, even though it’s for a different service line? Or should I just not bother? I feel like the partners really liked me during the first round. I don’t know why I didn’t receive an offer after the office visit 🙁

Yes, you should bother. All that can happen is you get it or you don't. But if you don't try then you will never know. And who knows maybe they have a bigger need or less people apply or you get a different interviewing partner who absolutely has to have you. As long as you are fine going down the audit trail…do it.

If you want to persuade the firm that you want to work for them, applying again is one way to show it.

    I definitely would.

There is a very real possibility that the same recruiter will review your resume. They obviously liked it the first time, or you wouldn't have had an interview.

No doesn't mean no in business. It means not right now.
