    Hii Guys,

I am preparing for Audit its my third attempt, I am preparing with Becker Self study materials,Wiley Testbank, Ninja combo lite.

I want to solve all the mcq’s from becker and wiley, make my own notes, rewrite Ninja notes because I think they are to the point and will help me to get the basics straight to my head.I study by writing, reading may help but I have to write. Thats why it take time.

My weak area is Simulations esp in area of Internal control and transaction cycles for which I am planning to read wiley book it really has detailed explanations.

Now the thing where I am worried is should I watch the Becker lecture again?? OR Read the textbook and understand on my own. Have already seen them for first attempt fully.

Watching Videos takes too much time. But somewhere in podcasts i remember Jeff told to watch the videos even for reattempt?? For my second attempt i just watched videos for A1& A4

Any one who skipped watching lectures??

I am feeling overwhelmed 🙁 May be because I am thinking a lot … Looking for your inputs guys.

    Thanks & Good Luck

    AUD- 73 Becker,72-->Becker+Wiley,69-->Added ninja notes,89 --> Added Gleim review
BEC- 84 Becker plus Wiley Test bank

    I am Done !!!!

When I prepared to re-take audit, the idea of watching the Becker videos again made me nauseous. I rewrote all of the ninja notes and then went through the Becker questions for each section. If I missed a MCQ, I wrote down the question and answer. Then I researched what I missed to create a giant set of notes about my weak topics. This took forever, but it really strengthened my understanding of the entire audit process. The ninja audio really helped to connect the loose ideas.

I didn't use the Wiley test bank, but I think it is a good idea to see as many types of questions as possible because audit is tricky. Definitely check out the previously released exam questions from the AICPA website. Good luck!

I think Audit is the only one I would probably skip the videos for if I had to take it again. My opinion is that is the only test of the four that is more memorization than applied concepts so there is little value in listening to Tim Gearty read you the book for a second time. The first time sure just to get acquainted with the materials, but not a second.

I found the NINJA notes and doing MCQ progress tests to be the most helpful but of course you'll have to find the approach that works best for you.

Thanks guys for replying.. I agree the videos arent great but sometimes just listening to the lecturer makes it lil better i guess..but aint so productive.

May be I will watch them if time permits but dedicate the quality hours on making my own notes,Rewriting Ninja notes, Most imp working MCQ's, Reading the textbook to grasp the audit process since it is like this flow of ideas…Listen to Ninja audio when I am tired or may be before sleeping rather than researching on forum 😛

Now I need to make my schedule and most importantly stick to it.

@ auslaf- I always do the aicpa released questions they are like challenge. Updated Becker 2013 software and they have now installed them in the homework

@3CPAv2 – I agree audit is mostly memorization except for A-3&A-4 Internal control/Test of controls/Substantive procedures/Transaction cycles.. I do ok on MCQ;s but get lost in Simulations on these areas.

I plan to do wiley testbank mcq's during my review period in the sets of 20-30 since some of them are similar to becker and some which are new..

Any specific tip for Audit Simulations ?? Since it has been my weak area for both attempts

    Thanks & Good Luck

    I took AUD twice.

The second time around, I skipped the videos. What I did was reread the chapters and take my own notes. For some reason, it helped it stick and made more sense to me when I did that. There is something about writing notes that helps — you write it down the way you understand it.

I knew the first time I took it, I failed because of the SIMS. My second time around, I think they felt sorry for me! Research was easier (had two the first time). I had one that was in the AL. The others, well, I had enough knowledge that time around to pass. Something I did different on my last time around was I looked through each one, and I worked from the last one first to the first one. I am an absolute firm believer in going out of order. I did this with the multiple choice; I read D, C, B, and A. It helped me a lot.

It sounds like you know your weak areas, and, unfortunately, those are tested:-) Get those down kiddo! Ask yourself “why” when you see these questions. Why can't the person who opens the checks post them to the AR ledger? May be when you see these questions when you are practicing, question the question. Look at each answer or option and use the “Process of Elimination.” There is a lot of BS that you have to weed through in the questions and answers for AUD. It's a tricky little stinker as I am sure you are well aware of at this point.

@nishvik Take this to heart from a battle tested Audit veteran…Audit is NOT just pure memorization of reports, tests, and controls. I had that mindset for attempts 1-3 and look what that got me! For my successful audit try, I abandoned all the mnemonics and memorization tools. I worked through the Wiley Textbook from cover to cover and took detailed notes on every module. I stopped memorizing and went in depth on the transaction cycles, controls, procedures, reports etc. Once I dumped the tricks, I passed.

You will too!!! Keep it up!

Thanks @ MintsRGood for tht advice..

I am trying my best .. Hope my hard work pays off.. It gets more difficult for me as audit is pure theory and i feel its like literature and so much text text… Audit is really cumbersome.

Sometimes i feel lost reading so much and solving wordy mcq's but will keep going on hoping to pass it ..

    Thanks for all your inputs

I took and passed audit without watching lectures – actually, I never have been in a lecture for it at all, since my audit class in undergrad was online, too, and I just read book for it. So, lectures are not required.

I think Jeff's point is – and I agree with this completely – is that when doing a retake, you need to treat it like a first-take and do a full review. Wiley is a full review…but from what I”ve gathered, the books accompanying a video course (aka Becker) aren't a full review, so if you just read the BEcker books or just did MCQs, that might not be enough. But reading WIley cover-to-cover, doing MCQs, notes, etc., is a full review and should do it for you!

Also going to 2nd that Audit is NOT a memorization exam. In my opinion, it is the most concepts-based of all the exams and the one where memorization will help the least.
