Should I study for the next section while I wait a month on my score

The score release for the most recent wave of exams is close to a month away. I took FAR but I am considering studying for my next section, AUD, in the meantime. I know my focus will not be that great because of the anticipation of the score for FAR but it seems to be a big waste of time to not study for a whole month. What would you guys recommend?

Yes. You would be wasting precious time waiting for we exam score. I passed my last 3 in a row, and my clock is ticking from the first score. My audit score expires in May of 2015, which gives me a good amount of time to pass FAR. However, everytime you fail after passing 1 exam you are just loosing time.

    CPA EXAM: DONE!!!!
    Ethics Course: Passed
    Application Mailed: 3/16/15
    Professional Conduct Exam: 97
    Certification Date: 4/2/15!!!

I totally agree. After I took my first exam in December, I waited about two weeks until I got my score and didn't start studying for my next section. I regret it because that is two weeks that I wasted. I now start studying for my next exam the day after I take an exam. The sooner I am done with these exams, the sooner I will have my life back!

    FAR 12/3/14, 87
    AUD 2/3/14, 90
    BEC 4/1/14, 88
    REG 5/27/14, 94

Thanks for the responses! It would be an easier question for me if I had passed an exam already and my clock was ticking but I have not. This is my first exam. I feel that if I do not pass it then I would prefer to attempt FAR again rather than taking AUD and having two loads of information on the brain could be too much. Then again, if I do not pass FAR then I cannot attempt it again until July so why not study for AUD now and take it in May.

For what it's worth, I started on BEC while I was waiting on my FAR score. I just made a deal with myself that if I (by some miracle) passed FAR, I'd already have a head start on BEC, and if I failed, I'd drop BEC and go back to FAR. Ultimately missed FAR by 3 points, so BEC is back on the shelf and FAR is back on the desk.

I took FAR towards the end of the testing window so I only had a week and a half or so to wait for my score. I was also traveling after exam day, so I only got a couple of Wiley chapters in on BEC. If you've got a month, I'd agree with you on studying for AUD, get it out of the way, and hit FAR again if you have to. Crossing my fingers that you passed and have that one out of the way already though! Good luck! 🙂

I had the same exam combo so I figured I'd let you know what I did.

I had taken REG Friday 8/31/12 so I gave myself Labor Day weekend off from studying. I started studying for FAR Tuesday 9/4 and took the exam Friday 11/16. I started studying for AUD Monday 11/19, then found out on 12/10 that I had failed FAR (with a 74….).

I was glad to have started studying for AUD because you don't want to sit around waiting and wasting time. Since FAR was more of a beast, I put AUD studying on hold immediately and went back to reviewing FAR. Did my FAR retake 1/4/13, went back to studying for AUD the next day and took that on 1/26/13.

Personally I found that going back to FAR didn't impact my AUD progress at all, and I was happy to not have wasted the time. Had I not started studying for AUD then found out I had passed FAR, I would have been mad at myself for wasting those weeks.
