    Hey guys,

Just found out this past weekend I passed FAR, which was my last exam, and am now currently filling out the paperwork for the licensure application. I couldn’t find an answer to a question I have regarding the experience requirement on the forums.

Is it required that you have to have “ALL” past employer(s) sign off on your experience?? I left my previous firm three years ago and at that time, I met the two years general experience requirement. However, I did not obtain the partner’s signature prior to leaving (STUPID OF ME).

In any case, I’ve been with my current firm for three years now with both general and attest experience. Can I just have the partner of my current firm sign off? It would seem cumbersome to have the previous partner sign off when the current partner for whom I work for can do it. Just want to be thorough with the application process and avoid any possible delays.

I plan on calling the CBA tomorrow but thought I’d ask here to see if anyone had a similar experience and/or answers to my question. Thanks in advance for any and all help.

If you met the work experience requirement with your current employer, then that's all you need to submit.

    FAR: 81 (May 2013)
    BEC: 81 (July 2013)
    REG: 83 (August 2013)
    AUD: 82 (November 2013)
    California CPA since 1/30/14

1 or 2 years of experience plus 500 attest hours. Or you can get them later.

    Thanks @tough_kitty! You were correct.

I called the CBA and confirmed that applicants should submit as many sign offs as needed to meet the experience criteria. Just FYI for those who may have future concerns regarding this.

What I am curious about is whether there is any way to force them to sign even if they do not want to in California.

My experience is over 5 years old and do to the short duration at both firms I am not sure if they will bother to sign either out of inconvenience or spite.

I am Icelandic and unfortunately the Viking in me loves to burn bridges as I go.

I spoke to an ancient wise man who sent me on a mushroom induced journey through an ancient forest to find the key to passing the CPA exam. A talking spider monkey told me to throw the last of my drinking water in the dirt to find what I was looking for. So I followed his instructions and the following message appeared in the soil:

"Do 5000 multiple choice questions for each section"

Hahaha@Study Monk 😉 probably not the best thing to do… and based on other threads on here about work experience, I doubt you can force anyone to sign it…. I should consider myself lucky I live in CA and my manager in the state happens to be a CPA.

    @VN: Thanks 🙂

Regarding CA General Accounting Experience, I am looking to get my experience signed off for my work as a healthcare claims auditor supervisor. The tasks included auditing claims by pulling in source documents from the provider to ensure they are billing in accordance with the agreement, training auditors and educating providers on correct billing practices. I believe this would fall under Accounting due to being associated with accounts payable (paying claims) and also under Consulting (internal audit activity).

The problem I am encountering is that the language is so vague as what meets the General Experience requirement. Any input

In CA everything accounting/audit related is acceptable as long as it's under an active CPA!

    FAR: 81 (May 2013)
    BEC: 81 (July 2013)
    REG: 83 (August 2013)
