I just signed my offer for a Summer 2015 internship at a Big 4 firm in the Midwest. What typically happens between now (October 2014) and Summer 2015? What should I expect?

Depends on which Big 4. My Big 4 employer kept in contact with me, letting me know key dates for paperwork and such. They also invited me to be a “campus ambassador” for many of the mixers and on-campus events to help with recruiting.

IT party? That could go either way.

Half the IT people I've met still live in their moms' basements. The other half smoke up on the gondolas before each snowboarding run.

    Will – you're too young.

I'm not going to disagree. Although my wife may. She says I act like a teenager.

I received my offer in November of last year and I start tomorrow, full time. After I'd signed the offer and filled out some paperwork, I heard nothing until last month or so when they did my background check.

Between now and Summer 2015, you do EVERYTHING you can – and start today. Because after you start your B4 internship job, you won't have any time to do anything else other than work. Unless they take it easy on you because they want to increase their chance of hiring you for full-time the following year.

Tripp11, I was informed at my office visit that my summer internship would be strictly 40 hours per week since they don't like paying over time during off-season. Therefore, I believe my internship will be easy to manage work/life balance. I understand it won't be like this full-time.
