I am still on chapter 15 of 20 so not at the final review stage yet. I have a question on SIMS on the actual exam. Everyone keeps saying how brutal they were, so my question is:

In Gleim on the SIMS practice they will have a SIMS and the entire SIMS is about pensions and the next is just about partnership transactions. Will that be how it is on the real exam, or will each SIMS be for a specific company and in that 1 SIM you have to do a pension calculation, calculate COGS, deferred taxes or something else, all in the same tab before moving on to the next SIM?

Hi CPAGAL,

The Sims on the actual exam are comparable to Gleim, in both level of difficulty and aethestics. Without going into exact detail, the Sims are not one company, and multiple different questions from said company, they are all different. You may have a pension question about McDonalds followed by an EPS question about Sunshine Cleaner's Inc. The SU Sims from Gleim are all from the specific SU, so all 7 will be about pensions, government accounting, etc. When you take the practice exam (and on the actual exam) the questions are random. Working the Sims definitely help in regards to feeling comfortable with different format questions (calculations, JE, fill-ins, picking an answer from dropdown menu), and most importantly getting a feel for the research question and searching the AL.

People overstate the difficulty of the Simulation portion of the exam, if you are prepared/knowledgable with the material being tested, you will be fine no matter what questions are asked. Be confident!

I agree with ajg38. I think the gliem simulations are a great representation of the Sims on the actual exam. I've taken 3 of the exams and have always felt well prepared on the Sims from practicing with gliem.

What mljordan37 said. Like no other…if I find out I passed REG tonight, it will be MOSTLY because of Gleim SIMs (and Roger Cram). They are both great products…
