So for all of us who are spending so much time studying and working… My father-in-law was just telling me about some studies that have recently been done showing that sitting all the time is equivalent to smoking in terms of the harmful effects to the body. My sister also recently told me about some study she was reading that said that after sitting for an hour, the arteries literally start to get more brittle.
I’m naturally the kind of person who likes to move and be active. However, I sit for 8+ hours a day working, plus more to study for the CPA exams.
Does anyone else have concerns for how much chair time we consume, and what can be done to overcome it? At this point, I feel like if I would have been more foresightful way back before I started my educational track, I likely would have chosen a different field that doesn’t require sitting all day, every day, staring at a computer screen.
It’s not just our bottom-lines that takes a hit from sitting in a chair… (okay, enough accounting puns for now 🙂
