Skip rest of the lectures and go straight to MCQ?

I honestly don’t feel I’m making much progress with these lectures. For the ones remaining, I am thinking of just covering government and nonprofit accounting and then go straight to MCQ and sims. Is that a good idea?

I didn't watch any lectures for FAR or REG because they are such a time suck. If you aren't getting anything out of the lectures, skip them!

CPA Exam - Finally DONE (November 2014)
    BEC (08/10/13) 80
    AUD (08/24/13) 65 (11/13/13) 85
    FAR (04/12/14) 81
    REG (07/19/14) 69 (11/29/14) 87!!

I agree with Mamabear, just skip to MCQs. In most cases you'll learn better that way and for a topic that is hard to understand then watch the lecture only for that topic. In some cases where I got behind or couldn't sit through one more lecture (even Roger's) I listened to the lectures at work or in the car…at least that way I had the foundation of the topics covered, if that helps.

    FAR - (11/01/14) 71 (02/07/15) 79
    AUD - (04/30/15) 86
    BEC - (07/21/15) 73 (10/01/15) 75
    REG - (11/30/15) 55 (05/19/16) 74

Agreed. I find it better to read the material over watching lectures. For one, it's very boring and two, they go so fast that there's no way to keep up.

    A - 75
    B - 78 God is good.
    F - 77 Answered prayers.
    R - 84! Done!!

Paperwork sent - waiting for license!!
Still on a cloud and in shock. Through God, all things will happen.

I watched all the lectures for FAR but pretty much stopped after that. This comes down to learning style, IMO. If you learn more from reading the text and making your own notes than listening to the lecture and copying the instructor's notes, then I would just use the lectures to solidify any particularly weak areas.

Is it doable with only 3 and a half weeks left to get the average trending to 85 for each category in Ninja MCQ and to write Ninja Notes a couple of times through?

I think I was in the 50s and 60s two weeks before my test. I got all areas except to up to the high 80s. It is doable. Work the MCQ as much as possible and focus on your weak areas. My suggestion is to rewrite a section of notes, then do all the MCQ for that section, then go to the next section. It gives you a break from MCQ and from writing notes. Good luck!

If I were to do it all over again, I'll probably save my time – I'm not going to watch almost pointless videos which explain nothing but let me highlight this and that

    AUD - 99
    BEC - 92
    FAR - 97
    REG - 94
    Accounting

    FAR (4/14/14) - 97
    REG (11/17/14) - 94
    BEC (11/30/14) - 92
    AUD (2/28/15) - 99

Seems like I’m in the minority here, but I’m a proponent of the Becker lectures.

Everyone’s style is different, but I learn by positive reinforcement. Banging my head against MC’s and getting them wrong over and over again just won’t create a healthy studying state of mind for me.

While watching the lectures, I picked up a little bit here and there for each section of the test. Many of the ridiculous stories that Olinto and Gearty told actually helped me on the exam. Although I didn’t “get” 100% of the material they were going over, I got enough of it to score at least 65%-80% on each of the HW sections. Which boosted my confidence and didn't put my ego in a state of despair.

I watched all lectures to 100% before I started cramming + review. It’s a time consuming way to study (I scheduled 1 exam each window) but in the end, slow and steady won the race for me and I was able to finish in 9 months.

EDIT: Quick note, while going through the lectures the instructors point out topics that are usually “heavily tested.” Or “Passkeys.” In my experience, they are right on the money. It almost seems like cheating when they basically tell you what topics the exam likes to throw at you..

A lot of books have the passkeys too so if you learn better by reading, like I do, then you could go that route then do MCQ. It really is based on how you learn best. Having someone tell you the material or reading it for yourself. Whichever works for you.
