So I’m on a student’s budget, and not working for a Big 4, so I bought some CPA materials off someone from Craigslist. I got the 2013-14 version of the gold course package of Wiley/CPA excel. Should this work well enough for taking tests over the next 8-12 months or so, or should I look into something else. Any advice would be awesome.

It should work for the most part. I'm using 2013-2014 Wiley. You can supplement with Ninja materials to make sure you have the most updated info.
