This is my first CPA test ever.

I’ve been studying since mid Feb for May 11th FAR test date. I’ve gotten through everything except for the SIMS fully. I’m doing well with trending scores. High percentages for every topic except financial statements (section 2 in ninja). I got a 60% on a practice exam. I study during work and accumulate probably 5 hours a day.

I just feel like every time I’ve tried to study for MCQ I miss some for stupid reasons like not being able to concentrate. Not eating well and just overall have a negative view towards my test.

Everyone on here says they don’t think they do well and end up passing but I feel like I don’t have that luck.

Has anyone ever felt this way? Could use some advice and motivation.

I have been studying since the beginning of March for a May 29th test and I'm still not through all the material the first time. You are way ahead of where I am, knowing full well I've forgotten most of the first 7 chapters of material in Becker. I'd say you're well on your way but totally understand being burnt out.

I'd change something up… focus on sims or journal entries for a while and just throw in smaller sets of mcq just to stay fresh.

    BEC - 02/21/15 - 82
    FAR - 05/29/15 - 82
    AUD - 07/09/15 - 93
    REG - 11/14/15 - 80

    All done!!!

I think doing journal entries might change it up. Taking off tonight. I'm hoping I'm well on my way! It's tough because I've never taken a test-i don't know if I'm prepared or not!

I am also having a problem with motivation. I've been studying since mid-march for FAR. This is my 4th and hopefully final part of CPA. The first 2 months of my studying (march & april) were when I was a full time graduate student, so the amount of time I could devote varied drastically. During finals at the end of April I had to take 2 full weeks off of studying and I've fallen really far behind :/

Test is scheduled for May 18th and I'm just feeling depressed because I know it is virtually impossible to get everything done that I want to get done. I'm using Becker and I'm still on new material, on Chapter 7. Luckily I've just graduated so I have the next 15 days until the exam to devote entirely to studying for CPA. Only thing that keeps me going is the hope that even though the next few weeks are really gonna suck and are going to feel like torture…but if I end up passing I will never have to deal with CPA again. I wish I had done FAR section first instead of saving it for last when I've already been studying for so many months and I'm completely burnt out. Okay– **end personal sob story**

Something that sounds super cheesy but has worked spark some motivation for me in the past is looking up motivational videos on youtube. I'm serious, some of that stuff will get you pumped up. Or I make lists of what I will do after passing the CPA. Or I just make lists of everything I have left to do for studying and I just scare myself into studying. Whatever works for you lol

    Good luck to you!!

I do look at motivational videos sometimes. I guess right now I'm tired of studying for FAR. I probably shouldn't have alotted so much time for it

It sounds more like you may need to take a day or two off. I know that may sound like bad advice a week or so before your exam, but if you are feeling burnt out now it won't get better without taking a break. Take a day or two and do something fun for yourself or with your friends, whatever works for you. You'll come back to the material feeling refreshed and the studying you do will be a lot more effective rather than doing it at 50%

I use Ninja notes and Becker, and switching software really helps me stay not burnt out. I am not sure why maybe it is just a mental thing for me, however I am much better off switching back and forth. Just a possible idea if you happen to be using two test banks.

I felt so overwhelmed studying FAR and my trending score is so low that I don't even want to talk about. It is a completely opposite feeling when I studied for REG a few months ago. Exam coming up (end of May) and I feel so unprepared and I am working very hard already (like studying 10 hours a day since Mid Feb). Sigh

    REG - 80 (02/13/2015) Roger + Ninja Flash Card + Ninja MCQ + Becker's Note
FAR - 84 (05/29/2015) Roger + Ninja MCQ + Some Wiley book questions
BEC - 77 (08/27/2015) Roger + Ninja MCQ + Half Wiley book questions
AUD - 87 (08/28/2015) Roger + Ninja MCQ + Half Wiley book questions
