Yes - I completely bombed FAR sim #2 and left 3 tabs blank due to time running out.
I knew the subject matter very well, but it literally took me a solid 20 minutes to figure out what in the world they wanted me to do. It was a very poorly written simulation. Thankfully, I passed in spite of it.
A girl at work said she scored somewhere in the 80's while finishing about half of the 2nd sim. She did say she finished the WC though, which apparently is a pretty imporant part.
My test was similar. On the 2nd sim teslet I made sure to get a reasonable WC written down, but I didn't even attempt to answer the research question and ran out of time in the middle of the last sim tab before the WC. Hopefully, I get the same result as the girl from work though : )
What's crazy is I'm usually an insanely fast test taker. All through college I was usually the first one finished with a test. I left my self about an hour and 45 minutes for the sims but they were brutal and I spent a little over an hour on the first one, but did not have enough time to finish the 2nd.
Good luck with your score!
The CPA exam is notorious for resetting/blowing away expectations...
I definitely passed FAR without completing both of the simulations. My review course instructor drilled it into our heads to allot a specific amount of time for each section of the exam, and then to move on whether or not we were finished. I worked through sim #1 until my time was up and then moved on to #2. I did the written communication portion for each sim, but I left an estimated 25% of the other information blank. It was just a lot to work through. Since I tested in the first month of the window and didn't get my score until Wave 2, I assume I had a new sim. I don't know if this makes a difference or not.
Keep the hope!
Both my simulations were awful. The first one was somewhat doable but it took me a while to figure out what I had to do the second one was absolutely awful. The one thing I made sure to finish on both was the written communications.
I walked out saying to my friends and family that I felt good about the mulitple choice but the simulations were dreadful. As typical from any one who has not taken the CPA test you get the inevitable question "do you think you will pass?" I would simply answer it will be very close...I am on the edge of the knife.
A bit poetic but it turned out to be true....I got a 75!
I did not watch my time and when I moved to sim 2 I only had time for one tab and answered 4 questions with the first choice on the drop menu before it closed. I made an 87 on FAR.
