First I'll give the standard disclaimer of "Your results may vary"........
I've been rather unhappy at work for the last couple years now. While I was studying for the CPA exam and before, I had been looking for another job. I had a couple of interviews, but nothing that worked out. I quit searching and figured after I pass my exams and after the holidays, I'd pick up my search again.
I just passed my last exam in October and became OFFICIALLY certified in early January (process was held up due to a clerical error). Just two weeks ago I began looking again. I've had about seven or eight calls, four interviews, and two job offers. Today was my second interview at one of the places. I walked out of there at 9:45 and by 10:15, I had an offer letter in my e-mail. So in literally two weeks, I've had all of this activity in my job search, much more than I had in six months before. Two job offers two weeks after becoming a CPA!
Bottom line is that I don't think it's a coincidence that I've had so many more bites just by adding three letters to the end of the top line of my resume.
So, for those of you who want to give up, don't. You'll soon reap the rewards of being a CPA. I could not believe how many more employers were calling for interviews compared to before.
