    I am finding the Wiley AUD Q’s too easy, I am not an auditor, more tax than the rest. What parts of this become hard, I am only thru AUD 1, probably will realize how srewed I am soon, but dont feel the slight bit challenged yet. Getting 90’s and feel strange doing this well. Is it Wiley? Vouch this, talk to the audit committee, downsize to a review blah blah blah. Seems like common sense. I hate auditors, just so you know, prima-donnas.

    Why did the auditor cross the road? Because it was there last year .. . . . . SALY, DILLY Tippicanoe.

    You're right, a lot of it is common sense. I can't remember any parts being particularly challenging for me but the only parts that I remember frustrating me was when I hit the codes of conduct and independence rules. There is too much to remember there and (go figure) the AICPA likes testing AICPA rules! lol Other than that, AUD is just a lot of memorization but where memory failed me on the exam, I used basic logic and whether I got those questions right or not, I'll never know but I did pass.

    Just keep at it, but don't get too cocky because you're only beginning your studies. There is a lot more ground to cover 🙂

    FAR 88 (07/15/11)
    BEC 83 (08/31/11)
    AUD 81 (10/15/11)
    REG 83 (11/26/11)

    @Kasias – thanks for the good info. I am humble not cocky, this process is tough on all levels and parts. You are an inspiration. I was just comparing my struggles with REG-BEC to aud and just glad it's more theory than IRR questions/ square root of APS/ staftey stock etc.

    @Givemesleep, are you solely using Wiley?

    Aud mise as well be called “verbal reasoning.” 80% of the questions you get wrong fall into 2 categories: (1) Name that regulatory body or (2) Questions you mis-read.

    I feel the AUD test punishes people worse than anything else who habitually read only key words in in test questions and implicitly determine the question by treating everything as “which one is not like the other 3?” You get a lot wrong on the CPA that way b/c they love to give answers: (a) wrong, (b) right (c) ‘more' right (d) irrelevant.

    Givemesleep, this is exactly why I failed AUD the first time. After FAR & BEC it seemed too easy.

    I'm studying REG at the moment and think there's much more memorization involved here than anywhere else.

    Btw, Wiley's AUD book is not enough, get their test bank or another review course for more practice.

    Peanut and & 75 , I am using the full Roger AUD Course supplemented with Wiley Test Bank questions that comes with it. I expect AUD 1 to be the easist and to get much much harder from here.

    @ Givemesleep – I found that a lot of people I talked to found Audit to be on the easier side. I really struggled with it. I have a problem with over-thinking things and getting tricked on the questions! Another challenging thing about Audit was that all of the information is so closely related that it seemed to blend together for me. But again, a lot of other people found that to be the “easy” part about audit!

    REG - 80 (Becker only)
    BEC - 76 (Becker only)
    AUD - 71, 76 (Becker only)
    FAR - 65, 74, 81! (Becker, Wiley Test Bank, Ninja notes & Audio)

    CPA Class of 2012 🙂

    @Mrs 300, that's my biggest problem with AUD.. I over think everything!!!!

    Peanut, I guess we are born accountants! Hahahaha. That's so sad!

    @Morganf – I COMPLETELY agree with you! I didn't notice your post before! I had to read each question literally 3 times to find out what they were REALLY asking for. It's a complete mind game. And I felt like I was truly prepared for Audit and mastered the material! I felt like (both tests) I spent more time dealing with the trickery of the question rather than whether I knew the concepts!

    REG - 80 (Becker only)
    BEC - 76 (Becker only)
    AUD - 71, 76 (Becker only)
    FAR - 65, 74, 81! (Becker, Wiley Test Bank, Ninja notes & Audio)

    CPA Class of 2012 🙂

    @Mrs 300 – I like this audit material way more than BEC, so jealous you passed. 76 is like a 99 to me. Waiting for 2/3. I think I have something to prove, because I am in the tax department of my 300 person firm and the auditors walk around thinking they are so much smarter than everyone else. If I pass BEC, I will jump off my roof into the pool then burn the BEC book and send Roger a dozen roses. Keep at it All !!!!

    @Morganf

    I lol'd at your post. You're absolutely right. Most of my questions I missed were about PCAOB stuff that wasn't mentioned in my material. And once I got one wrong in the first testlet, they kept coming back to it again and again. I'd guess 90% of the MCQs I missed were about that, if not all. The thing I found most frustrating about AUD was how little of what I considered foundational topics actually showed up on the exam. It's been a while but I don't think I had any questions about “does this have an inverse or direct relationship to audit risk”, or sampling questions, etc. It seemed like 80% of my questions were about what I would call fringe topics.

    So glad it's over. I'm finding FAR much easier, although slower since there's way more calculations in my homework questions. [sigh]

    FAR - 90
    REG - 85
    BEC - 88

    For the OP & others that haven't taken AUD yet, I recommend studying differently for this test than the other 3;

    (1) REG it was fine not to read the actual laws, and trust in Wiley/instructor summarizations. This doesn't hold for AUD. You NEED to read the actual SAS at the end of the book that look like something to be used just as a reference.

    (2) BEC, REG, FAR all worked fine for me to devote 90% of your study time to reading the material and just knowing the content. Everyone is right when they say AUD is all about practice MCQs. You'll learn so many ‘fringe topics' by getting questions wrong, and seeing their “text link” didn't even mention it. You're flat missing material if you don't do at least 300-400 MCQs, I did 950 for my last try.

    (3) Any Audit class will not prepare you as much for this test as you thought. I had a 98.5% average in my college's audit class that I needed for my state to let me sit for the exams. They all teach you about audits. You'll see like 3 questions max on the test relating to anything in those courses besides report modifications. The CPA AUD exam should be called “Reviews, AUPs, & Assurance Engagements,” all the things not covered in those courses.

    I imagine all the people who had an easy time with AUD knew these things before hand. I found out from trial & failure.

    BEC - 88
    AUD - 69, 74, 93
    FAR - 78
    REG - 79

    I can't believe no one addressed this.

    @givemesleep

    I hate auditors – prima donnas…really?

    Anyways, maybe wait until you get further in before you call this section easy. Ego will kill you in this test. Don't count those eggs before they hatch. I do hope you do well and pass but try not to make generalized comments as many people on this forum are or have been auditors and can take offense to what you said. Have you audited before? I think that is another thing that changes the test. Being a past auditor, I found it difficult to study for this test because the test material isn't really how you audit a client. Also, a lot of people struggle with this section for various reason. I studied with Becker and found some sections a lot easier than others and do feel some information is common sense but I would never use the word ‘easy'.

    lol AKB i noticed it but have been an auditor for the past six years so I decided to bite my tounge…. I agree that studying for audit is very different than working as an auditor. What you learn and the way it is applied are two totally different things. Good luck givemesleep!!
