Staff vs. Senior Salary

    Hey everyone,

I’m an experienced audit associate with a large national firm (just outside the Big 4). Pending nothing changes, I’ll be promoted to senior after this busy season. What is the typical percent salary increase from a staff to a senior?

    Thanks for the input!

Man, my moderation skills are weak, was gonna change your name to BigFiveSlave, haha.

10% ish sounds about right, its a annual bump + a promotion bump. Also depends on your market, they might give better raises if the market is hot and people are leaving.

@Bigfourslave or anyone, how about your raise from associate to experienced associate? how big of a raise was that one?

@acamp – Good one! Unfortunately, I created this account when I worked for a Big 4.

@2B.CPA – My bump from associate to experienced associate was 5%. I would expect the increase from experienced associate to senior to be bigger (new title, more supervisory responsibilities, etc.).

Associate to experienced associate – 10%

Experienced associate to senior – 20%

The percentages exclude bonuses. I'm a big 4 firm.
