    Hi, Guys.

I kind of had a horrible day.

I went to Robert and Half to have an interview, and the only thing the recruiter would talk about was temporary position.

I need to have an permanent position, but the recruiter was talking only about temporary position that won’t lead to full-time.

I have recently graduated out of college in NY, with no jobs. I completed CPA exam shortly after. I have temporary jobs now, and I do not want to live like this anymore. On my way back from Robert and Half, I cried so much due to all the fears that I am facing.

I contacted several other agencies for financial service, but I have not heard anything back. If you guys know of any other agencies for entry level at Big 4, and could tell me that, I would appreciate so much.

    Thank you!

Why don't you try contacting Big 4 recruiters on LinkedIn like some have said? Search other topics on here for specific advice…

If you can't hold out for Big 4, just go to Indeed.com and start applying like crazy to positions that would have CPAs to give you the experience you need…you've completed your exams so you shouldn't have an issue getting a good job…have someone look at you resume as well for format errors and grammar mistakes

    BTW, I can't stand those staffing companies…

    Florida:
AUD: 73, 81! Thank you Lord!
BEC: 73, 77! Thank you Lord! and WTB
REG: 71, 82! Thank you Lord! and A71
FAR: 72, 78! Thank you God and my Mommy in Heaven!

Indeed seems like a great website that has a lot of options for accounting. Robert half isn't in it for their clients they are in it for themselves. I live in central Indiana and there are always positions available on indeed for accounting positions and most don't require you to have a cpa.

    FAR 62, 66, 78
    AUD 66, 55, 74, 72
    BEC 79
    REG

Thank you for the replies. I have contacted with one of the recruiters at Big 4 last week. She called me the next day about the upcoming career opportunities, and asked me if I would be interested in it, and I said yes. The company has not set up the specific date for the interview yet. She said that she will forward my resume to the relevant department and follow up with me, but I have not heard anything back for 5 days… I am really stressed out and nervous now.. Will I hear back from her? should I contact the recruiter again?

That is awesome!! For a Big 4 recruiter to call you back so fast is awesome. Do NOT contact her yet…She is probably going back and forth with them on scheduling and other stuff…follow up in 2 weeks (from the time you talked to her) if you have not heard anything by then…good luck to you! You have tackled the CPA exams right after finishing school so you should have some confidence and not let people make you feel bad! Ajaz0810 said it best, those recruiters are looking out for their own best interest….

totally understand your worries. hey look on the bright side that at least you have temp job. and a lot of times these temp jobs leads to full time.

just tell RH you are only looking for full time. ask the contact to refer you to his/her co-workers if that's what it takes. if you shooting only for big4 then it's not likely to go through headhunters. especially entry level. why would big4 pay someone to hire an entry level when they can get whole bunch from schools.

try out regional – small firms. trust me it's a good start and more stable. big4 is pretty cutthroat. and you could end up “crying” everyday. for other reasons. 🙂

    2 things.

If you have no job and need a job, don't limit yourself to only 4 firms.

Second, if you are a recent grad, don't you still have access to your schools career services?

    BEC Oct2014 - 85
    AUD Jan2015 - ??
    REG Feb2015 - ??
    FAR May2015 - ??

@Hannah. H, I really can't say because there are a lot of factors I am not familiar with in the Big 4, but it looks like you have potential, otherwise she would not have contacted you at all…

Make sure you practice your interviewing skills and don't speak badly of your temp work during interviews 🙂
