Just curious, are these allowed at your firms? Are they common? Anyone have experience with this? The reason I ask is I have really bad anterior pelvic tilt that I’ve ben trying to fix. There isn’t really a point in fixing it if I’m just going to start working and have to end up sitting all day.

Would have loved to have had a standing desk, but instead propped my keyboard and mouse up on boxes and stood for 3 months straight. I had an unknown muscular issue that was causing back spasms when I sat. My boss did not offer to do anything to help, but now my coworker in the next department over is having a back issue and his boss arranged for him to get a standing desk. It is pretty cool. Much better than propping keyboard and mouse up on boxes.

I am 25 years old and have had 5 open heart surgeries. I know that sitting kills and so I just request one. Apparently, my company you need a doctor’s note to get one. I never use my heart problem for anything, but I broke down and asked my doctor to write a note. I feel bad.

In relation to your question, the worst that could happen is that they ask you to get a doctor’s note or you use Lindrobe’s box method.

I was at the point where I was considering buying one for myself. You can get one for about $350. I had went to several different doctors, chiropractors, and specialists trying to get my problem figured out. I finally figured it out myself and did a lot of stretching and strength training exercises and was back to normal after about 9 months of hell.

I work for a small forensic accounting firm and they got everyone these desk mounts a few months ago. Unfortunately, not everyone uses them, but I love mine. Takes some getting used to, but it is so nice to have the ability to stand throughout the day.

These are popping up in my office. We hired a new girl who requested one and now everyone wants one. Her's is power adjustable so she can sit or stand. I have to admit it is pretty cool. I usually wear uncomfortable shoes and I will sometimes take them off in my office. My traditional desk gives me some “under desk privacy” that the standing desks don't provide. 🙂 If you are having issues I would request it.
