I started studying for BEC last week and am finishing up chapter 2. I can study 2-3 hours each weeknight Mon-Thurs and about 6 hours each weekend day. Becker chapter 2 seemed to take me a long time to get through the lectures and homework, some problems taking as much as 10-15 minutes. Is this normal? The questions seem to go very in depth, are they like this on the exam? I feel like so far the material isn’t super tough, just takes practice and memorization. Please tell me the homework questions don’t take this long in the later chapters…

I don't have experience with Becker, but BEC is a lot of memorization–terms, formulas. I remember the exam being fairly straightforward, but I've also seen people post on here that they got questions from out of no where. I don't think those questions were a significant portion though. Becker should prepare you well. Just keep working through the chapters/questions and you should do fine. Make note cards for formulas and be sure to memorize all those IT terms.

I am currently going through B2 and am going through the same thing. As I was going through the budgeting set of multiple choice I was at 52% through the first 30 and decided to stop and go back through that particular lecture. Well I did, and the next set of 20 questions I got an 80% and things seemed to make a lot more sense. In B1 I did the same strategy and ended up with 80% above on multiple choice. So if you are struggling, just carve out some time and rewatch the lecture, it helps bring everything together.

Chapter 2 and 3 in Becker definitely took the longest. 4 5 and 6 went pretty quickly for me, especially chapter 5. I'm pretty sure I finished all of the homework for that chapter in less than 2 hours.

    AUD 4/4/2014 - 97
    FAR 5/29/2014 - 97
    REG 7/10/2014 - 90
    BEC 8/1/2014 - 89

BEC here also. Just finished chapter 2 lecture last night. I only managed to review chapter 1 in its entirety. Will start on the HW today and get a jump on B3 lecture. B2 is definitely dreadful. I was out of town this past weekend and decided to highlight and write notes from Becker before watching lecture. In theory, I figure I could concentrate on the materials instead of constantly highlighting and writing. This failed big time. I was literally falling asleep. I'll never do that again. I'll need to go back and review it thoroughly.

@jjacinto, I have the same study schedule as you. You are ahead of me by a day or two, I think. Hoping to be done with B1 HW, B2 HW and complete B3 Lecture by the end of this weekend. When are you sitting for BEC?

    I'm also studying for BEC.

My progress is extremely slow. I think I'm burnt out on studying, but gotta keep moving forward.

The material isn't easy for me. It's all very new and starting from scratch. So, I've watched the videos, I've done a quick run through on the MCQ's to get familiar with what they are asking, took a TON of notes, now I'm going through the MCQ's again. And, plan to go through them another time after that.

I'm not retaining the info and I know that's because I'm tired. But, even when I take a night off and get some rest, my brain is still not interested in it the next day. I'll keep plugging away at it, though.

After my BEC exam, I will take a little more time off. But, then gotta get movin' on REG….

    FAR - 86 - 2/27/14
    AUD - 75 - 5/29/14
    BEC - 80 - 8/31/14
    REG - 89 - 2/27/15
    Praise Jesus! I'm done!!

Wow, 3 1/2 weeks is quick. I believe it's definitely doable. A lot of BEC was covered from undergrad/grad school. But I need more time. Been out of school too long. Good luck! I haven't scheduled yet but my target date is either 8/27 or 8/28.

Taking BEC August 8th. Finished up B6 tonight so I'll have a whole week to review and I'm not currently working. Y'all are right B1 and B2 are definitely more difficult than the last sections. Have y'all put much time into the writing sections yet? I'm using becker and have looked over their responses, but I feel you can only practice so much for that area..

I started BEC too and after finishing chapter 2, I felt beaten down. I started chapter 3 last night and was suprised at how easier it was to get through the lecture and questions. I feel much better knowing that.
