I am studying for FAR taking the exam end of August. in 2 weeks i’ll be going to Myrtel Beach for the week and I was wondering if anyone has pointers on getting light studying during a vacation. My goal is to get through all the lectures and MCQ’s done once before I go away. So i was thinking of just reviewing flashcards (at the airport and just relaxing on the beach) i’m open to all methods of studying but I do want to enjoy myself and try to relax. Thanks!

Studied the same amount on vacation as I would have during a regular work week-allowing myself 8-10 hours per day of R&R but still studying at least 2 committed hours per day. Even on my honeymoon, in Disney. Sat on a bench studying while hubby and our kids stood in line for Space mountain. I felt it was a small sacrifice, those 2 hours a day to put the exam behind me for good.

I'm currently on vacation and read while waiting in the airports and on the plane. I've done some MCQ while I wait for others to get ready, but no where near the amount of studying I would be doing if I was at home. It's a good break though. Good luck to you!

If you're using Becker you can download the offline app to your iPad or iPhone and do questions or listen to the lectures that way. I've actually purchased the Wiley Test Bank app for my iPad too. I have gotten in about ~70 questions today on IT, most of which were on a boat in the lake, on my iPad. I was actually pretty impressed with my motivation 🙂

Wake up early, or go to bed late. or read notes by the pool. or sit inside alllll day. plenty of choices, you just have to pick which ones works best for you! (probably wouldn't advise sitting inside all day!)

I went to San Diego in March while studying for REG. I just started studying, but I had my notes all complete. My flight was 5 hours, so I bought the wifi offered. It was $8, but it was worth it. I studied at the pool, on the Coaster/Amtrak, etc. My friends thought I was silly for studying on vacation, but I was more relaxed studying by the pool than not studying.

I know it's a common sense tip, but don't lose your materials!! I left my AUD notes in my hotel in Vegas late last year. I left them apart from my luggage, so I could study them at the airport and on the plane but forgot to grab them as I was leaving. They were handwritten, so I had to rewrite them all. 🙁

    Passed all sections.

I'll be in the same situation in two weeks.

When I'm at the beach, I'm typically there for 5-6 hours a day. Instead of reading, I'll be doing flashcards and practice questions using the CPAExcel app (which isn't that great admittedly). If I can get in 2 hours of studying a day while on vacation, I'll consider that a victory.

I had this problem last summer while at the lake with family – stayed inside the house studying all afternoon while everyone else was outside playing in water and sunshine. Wasn't the most fun I've had, but it freed up my evenings for some guilt-free quality time with the fam.

    Flashcards!!!

If you have Becker, then print out the chapter summaries, or get the Ninja Notes and print those out. Keep it simple – enjoy vacation.
