Hi guys so Score Release was not a good day for me, I scored a 66 and I scored a 65 on AUD previously and at first I was down and considered alternate options to what I could with my profession since I’m only 24 but I honestly looked deep down and now I’m F****** Pissed. I’m angry, its like this exam is punching me in the face repeatedly and I can either turtle up or get up and start throwing lefts and rights. That’s what I’m going to do. I’m going to make this test my B**** just like GSP did in all of his title defenses (sorry had to make an MMA reference). I used the Ninja 10 point combo and while I do feel it helped, it just seems I need a little something more. Are there study groups in NY or classes? I know Becker has the live lectures for 8 straight hours but I’m not sure if I could mentally handle that much at once. Please give any advice you’ve got because this is personal to me now and I want this badly enough that’ll I’ll lose a few battles but in the end I’ll win and my arm will be raised! Sorry that this is long and drawn out, I’m just venting as I don’t know who to turn to at the moment, no one in my life really understands what its like to go through this…..

    Here we go Again

    AUD: (65)(66) 77
REG: (66) (48) destroyed me mentally.....
    FAR: (68) (66)(69)(71)
    BEC: (63) 75

AUD is very very tricky. My experience was that after I felt very good with attempt #1, I failed with a 73. I started my re-study for 2 hardcore months to “only” increase my score to a 75 (a pass is a pass and for that I was happy, but I'm still a little baffled how I still didn't score in the mid-80s).

How did you feel on your simulations? I think that's why I failed audit the first time. Audit seems like it presents it's exams in a harrowing mix of conceptual AND computational, so you have to both UNDERSTAND the stuff and know how to “do the math” . Becker live classes….. those are probably expensive. and boring, yes. But they probably work great for some people and do exactly what they intend, help people pass.

I really liked using the Wiley textbook for audit (40-60$ at your local barnes & nobel, or order it online). It's good to get away from the electronics, in my opinion, every once in a while when studying.

Best of luck. Don't give up!

    REG - 65, 70, 80!
    BEC - 35, 62, 79!
    AUD - 73, 75!
    FAR - 65, 73, 70, 75! DONE.

The first thing would be to sit down and think back through the past weeks/months and analyze your study methods: Did you devote enough time, Did you use learning techniques that suit your learning style (visual, auditory, tactile), etc. Look for things that worked well for you and things that didn't. Cut out the things that didn't and add more of the things that did.

If you can post a rundown of this analysis, it would help others suggest ways to improve.

Do as many MCQ as you can, preferably from Wiley. I took AUD 2/20 6 days after taking BEC, went through 1500 MCQ and got an 86. My previous AUD scores were 64 and 68.

    Get Wiley and drill!!

So basically this is how I studied:

1st Attempt (Becker Self-Study Only): I watched the lecture, read the chapter after the lecture, made notes, then did MCQs and took additional notes to the questions I answered incorrectly. Proceeded to do that for each chapter, with a few progress test inbetween to keep the material fresh. In my final review I was scoring mostly 80s on my Progress Tests, could be that I had done the questions so many times I just knew the answer. End result failed with a 65.

2nd Attempt (Becker Self-Study with Ninja 10 Point Combo): Watched all the lectures in the same week. Then read the entire book chapter by chapter emphasizing on the chapter I was weaker in. Then I made a new set of notes and read the ninja notes as well. Listened to the Ninja Audio on my commute to and from work. Took all the MCQ in the Becker software and WTB. WTB progress test, mainly scored anywhere between 75-80. Felt confident going in to the exam, left the exam thinking the MCQ went well but the SIMS were real rough.

I honestly don't know what I could do differently other than changing the materials and trying some other review course materials. I generally put in anwhere between 20-30 hours a week into studying and I gave myself 6 weeks for my retake.

Maybe I'm not using my time the right way, I am open to any suggestions as what I'm doing is obviously not working for me

As nbad311 said, AUD is definitely tricky. Drake11 also brings up a great point, mentioning the varying learning techniques – I would advise trying to figure out which method will help you retain information as efficiently and effectively as possible.

I did the following in preparation for my Audit exam:

Becker Self Study : Watched 100% of the lectures, did 100% of the MC and Sims for each lecture too

    – Took the first Final Exam in Becker, identifying any areas/topics I was having trouble with & re-read/write NINJA notes on those areas

NINJA Audio + Notes : listened to the audio literally whenever I could (while driving to/from work and school, while at work with headphones on, while at the gym, etc). I could quote Jeff's notes by the time I was done. Then re-wrote the notes completely three times.

    – For every single MC I got wrong, I wrote down the question/correct answer (or the reason why I got it wrong).

Edit to add: I also did ~10-12 progress tests (90MC each), same approach if I got it wrong as above.

After failing I decided to skip the lectures as I was not processing the information while it was going on. To me that is 8 hours a week of study time wasted on lectures. Read the Becker book and the ninja notes, then look to the Becker book again to clarify certain ninja note topics. Then do Wiley MCQ until each module is over 80% correct and I think you should do well.

Anyone in the NY (Westchester) area who has passed this section or has passed the exam willing to tutor me? I'll pay a fair rate, I'll shell out every last cent I have to pass this exam. I still live at home with just about no expenses so until I move out which is most likely within the next year I can spend as much as possible on passing this exam. This exam has consumed the past 5 months of my life and while thats nothing compared to others who are struggling like I am, I need to pass one of these sections just so I can feel like I'm not an idiot….
