Taking BEC on Monday… Extremely Nervous

    Hi,

    I am taking BEC on Monday and although I’ve been studying this past month I don’t feel as prepared as I did for FARE and AUD… And I can’t keep delaying it because I am taking REG at the end of February. I have not practiced not one single sims for the BEC which is killing me…. Can some one please let me know their experience with BEC

    AUD – 68, 81

    FAR – 84 – 1st attempt

    BEC – 01/23/2012

    REG – 02/2812012

    You might want to review the comments on BEC's Forum.

    What I have read so far is to know the difference between a memo and a letter. Some people just go thru the formats, reviewed how they should be written one or two days prior to the exam. So apparently, as long as you keep the format, no grammatical and punctuation errors, and keep mentioning the topic in the document (intro, body and conclusion) you are ok.

    Hopefully, somebody with experience will reply to your thread 😉

    @jokami,

    you will be absolutely fine as long as you did a lot of MCQs and felt comfortable with those 😀 I didn't touch even one WC when I was studying for it. I only looked at the Becker tutorial the day before and my BEC score is the highest 😀 Don't worry about the WC as long as you have a clear beginning, middle, and a ending paragraph 🙂

    Thanks… I am finishing all the multiple choice questions with basically all the reviews I can get. So far… Some of them are very easy… But I can say this: I HATE OVERHEAD VARIANCES!!!!!

    good luck! im taking it tomorrow. dont stress so much over OH variences.. just know how to do a one way and your DL and DM variences and your all set (from what ive heard).. Ill let you know how mine goes tomorrow.

    @jokami – I hope that what I am about to say will make you feel better……

    I went into BEC without knowing the material. It wasn't because I was lazy – it was because I found it to be VERY difficult. I literally could not even understand some of the Passmaster answers in Becker with the answers and explanations. So I went into the exam and did my best. Normally, I am extremely particular and I do not like going into exams without feeling like I mastered the material. But for some reason, I just couldn't master BEC. Know that you do not have to be 100% to pass. Granted, I only got a 76, but I'd take anything above a 75.

    Something about the WC – I was told beforehand to take a position and then write about it. That helped me a LOT. I got a topic that I simply was unfamiliar with in my written communications and I just took a position, formatted my response correctly, and wrote clearly and without grammatical errors.

    Whatever happens, do NOT give up. I can say this because I literally had to flat out guess on at least 15 questions. No educated answers…I had to GUESS and I still passed. You never know what could happen.

    Thank you… I just wanted to feel that I am not alone in this. And I know I am not. The forum speaks for it self… But there are times you feel like you are the only one in the world going through this burden. The worst part is that I am planning on also taking the CIA exams after the CPA. It doesn't end here.

    Dont panic, BEC is not bad at all if you have a good understanding of common business terms. Most questions are very basic and straightforward, such as financial ratio, cost accounting, business strategy, economics, and so on. The test does have some weird topics coming from nowhere, but you can still pass easily if get basics right. Review your college notes will be very helpful if you still have any. If you passed BEC, you can transfer your credit for CIA part IV, so your next game will be a bit ease Good Luck!

    Ok…. My experience with BEC… Not good at all!!! I could not finish the test… And many questions of the questions were made up yesterday by the examiners!!!

    I have a feeling I will have to repeat this one!!!

    Taking BEC part end of Feb. Can anyone olease explain the actual difference between a memo and a letter?

    Hi Ann,

    the mayor difference is basically the tone used in both of them… and to know that memos are an informal way of communicating with your peers.
