Hello,
I would just like some advice, experience, or insight about taking the CPA exam a couple of years removed from college. I graduated in 2013 with high honors BS Business Admin, accounting concentration. I wanted to take the exam right after I graduated but I joined the workforce and life got in the way. I think I am ready to begin the process now, however there are quite a few hurdles:
– I have been at this dead end AP job for a year and a half and I fear and feel like I forgot everything I learned in school and I am wondering if that is going to keep me from passing the exam.
-Also this is a full time 40h/week job(7-5), I am stuck in an hours worth of traffic too and from the job, and I also work out 6X a week for a maximum of an hour in a half, then I try to get at least 7 hours of sleep to prevent exhaustion. 20 1/2 hours of my day is already filled.(I have no time to study at least on the weekdays)
– I am also extremely broke(I make 11 an hour in CALIFORNIA) and I can NOT risk taking the exam without a legit review coarse, I am not a genius so I cant do it on my own. I cant risk the cheaper review course options I am too scared to take that risk.My only option is probably the becker 0% interest option and maybe a loan for the actual exam.
-I dont know if I have the will anymore to do anything let alone study for this extremely difficult exam. I was a rockstar in college but the real world has broken me down so much that I have lost my confidence in the ability to do anything. I know in order to take this exam, you have to be extremely motivated. I am kind of going through a depression right now and I dont know if that is the right mindset to be in.
I am in a tough spot. Is there anyone out there who has been in a similar situation and if so, how did you get through this and did you succeed?
