Or another way to ask, for those of you that didn't focus on memorizing the phaseouts but rather, focused more on the concepts and calculations – what was your score?

I got a 77 on Reg Window 2, 2014 and didn't even consider those phase outs. My score was really low on business law conxepts and comparable or stronger on tax topics. I think you may be over thinking the book knowledge. If you do the multiple choice in your review course 2 to 3 times you will not have to worry about the trivial tax concepts, because the exam tends to test on general tax concepts as reflected by your test bank.

Passed all 4 exams in 2014!

Thanks! I am using Becker and didn't want to regret not trying to remember the phase outs- I am guessing understanding the concepts and itemized deduction calculations would be best.

They don't really test phaseouts. I saw them on Becker MCQs and never saw them on the exam. Too much opportunity to put forth antiquated material on the actual exam. That would be embarrassing!

I am using Yaeger to review and Phil says to not worry about phaseouts, it is impossible to memorize them all.

Understanding how phase outs work is more important than knowing them all. I knew the basic ones (10% medical, 50% charity), 2% business expenses) and got a 78.

    Great, thanks!
