Telling myself I am studying in the mornings….but I love my bed!

Anyone have any suggestions about how to better manage my study time? I love Jeff’s plan of studying 1 hour in AM, 1 hour at lunch and two at night BUT I can not bring myself to get out of bed any earlier than I have to! I feel like I’m studying extremely slow. Its taken me 1.5 mos to go through FAR lectures and work through chapters FAR 1-3 MCQ’s. I should really disable my internet until I get this thing done because I take small breaks to check the board, facebook, ect.

Someone kick my butt or give me some motivation! How do you do it?

I don't study in the mornings. I can barely make it to work on time as is. I get home from work at about 6:00 and study in the evenings. I have no kids and a very independent husband so this works well for me.

I also have a hard time getting up extra early to study.

Study plans are great, but only you know what kind of schedule will work best for you in actuality. If a recommended schedule does not work for you, then tailor it to be a schedule you can stick to…

Because of my work and school schedule, and because I'm generally more an evening/night study person, I end up doing the bulk of my studying later in the day/at night.

I didn't study in the mornings… I just couldn't get myself out of bed. I sometimes studied during my lunch break, but really most of my studying was done after work from 5:15pm – 9:00pm. I'd have a coffee to help get some energy. I wouldn't even allow myself to open up an internet browser except for CPAexcel and last.fm. The temptation to check facebook/email was too strong, but I had the motivation of knowing that I would get to go home and relax if I just focused for those hours.

Oh and I also usually studied at a coffee shop with a headset to block out the noise.

I guess it all depends on when you can best concentrate and retain what you are studying. I am trying the get up earlier thing this time around. I like my bed too, so some days it is only about 30 minutes, but it is a good 30 minutes. The big bulk of my studying does happen in the evening, but there are lots of distractions as well. The morning & also lunchtime are great for no distractions.

I did the 5AM while studying for FAR, and it helped me to go over the lectures, but each single day at mid morning I was simply exhausted and not that productive at night (I don't drink coffee).

Now, since I am re-studying for FAR, my poor son is going to pay the price. I am going to leave him in daycare at 7:00 instead of 8:00 be at the office at 7:15 and start studying until 8:30. I just have to sacrifice 30 mins of sleep instead of 1.30 hours.

If you are a morning person, get up!!! If not, do the lunch and 3 hours at night. You can also adjust your study time during weekends (that's my last option).

    Good Luck!!!

I have been studying in the mornings before work and after work. When I get up in the morning, I just keep saying to myself “It will be worth it, it will be worth it…” I just think that, if I put in the time now, I can pass this thing and get through it as fast as possible! The more time you spent now, the less time you will have to spend overall on this exam (hopefully 🙂 ).
