Tempted by the Black "Belt" Friday BOGO deal….

So I just BEC exam yesterday. It was my first CPA exam ever and it was certainly a stressful event. Let’s just say that I took the day off from work and there was a bit of day drinking….

I felt the first testlet went fine but two and three were rough. The WC was okay but I am unfortunately prone to typing mistakes so I did my best to make sure my responses were professional and grammatically correct.

I purchased the cheapest RogerCPA course (at about $600) along with the Wiley TB on iOS. I went through the video lectures along with the book and took notes. After that I went with MCQ’s; about 1000+ while taking additional notes. Somehow I still felt vastly under-prepared and the my experience with the exam was less than stellar. I, like a lot of first timers I think, felt that I didn’t come out of the test with a passing score. I guess we’ll find out December 9th…

Anyways, I am moving forward as if I passed and I am looking for alternative study materials for my next planned test – REG. Personally, I am not sure my Roger course was worth the money for me personally. Sure, the lectures were entertaining but I feel like I can get more bang for my buck. I am very conscious of the money I am spending on these courses and there is not a chance in this lifetime that I am going to spend my money on Becker.

As the title suggests, the BOGO deal offered right now caught my eye. I know people have made posts about their experiences with using NINJA but I was hoping to get some recent feedback regarding. If I took advantage of the deal, the REG package would be my main course of study. I would perhaps get the Wiley app again. With that, what I people’s thoughts using primarily only NINJA’s Ten Point Combo for studying? The only thing that has me concerned is that the first couple of sites I visited after Googling “CPA Course Reviews” didn’t really mention anything about NINJA…

This is just my personal opinion, so take it with a grain of salt, but I wouldn't put too much weight on how good NINJA is just because it hasn't come up in searches. I'm fairly new to the site, but I read lots of positive things about NINJA. I don't think NINJA is coming up in the sites because it isn't a massive corporation with a huge marketing budget, but it doesn't take away from its effectiveness. I think of NINJA products as more of an insider gem for those of us serious about the CPA exam.

That was my thinking a few hours ago. I have not taken any sections of the exams yet (January is my first), but I too purchased Roger and did not want to spend on Becker. I was nervous that Roger was not going to be enough (I do like his style though). So I took the bait and purchased the BOGO offer.

I have not seen any reviews for the 10 point combo either (except for on this forum lots of 15 point increases in exam scores). However, you can find a few people who say that they did not pass with the combo stating they did not put in the effort. The fact that the moderators allowed any “negative” reviews of the products to stay on this forum says a lot about NINJA and the integrity of this website.

What made the decision easier for me is that I was already planning on purchasing the MCQs (Roger definitely does not have enough). But you already have a test bank so that may not be a necessity. I also wanted an audio review since I will be starting a job next year with a long drive, and the NINJA notes have always looked promising as they are mentioned very often in comments on this forum. Just wanting those 3 items alone makes the combo deal worth it. If it were me I would look at what you feel you are missing with Roger + Wiley TB and find an option that will fit the hole. From what I have purchased, I feel a lot more confident about going into the test than I would have with Roger alone. The material looks just as good if not better than Roger's. But then again I have not taken a section yet so what do I know?

I'm in the same situation as you guys. I'm taking FAR at the end of February and just purchased Roger, but will be supplementing with NINJA. I already had the audio, flashcards, book and MCQs for FAR that I purchased from different sales, but I picked up the BOGO for AUD and REG. I may be going overboard, but I'm trying to give myself the best possible chance of passing all sections on the first try and it's still considerably cheaper than purchasing Becker.

I've only used Ninja and I've knocked out FAR/AUD/BEC on my first try, with REG to be finished on Saturday. I bought the 10 point combo, though I've only used the Notes/MCQ/Audio.

I can't speak for REG specifically because I haven't taken it yet, but if it's anything like the other 3 sections, then Ninja will have done an excellent job of giving me the tools to pass the exam. I say tools because like tools, they won't do the work for you, but they'll make the work easier if you know how to use them correctly.

NINJA is basically just on this site, so you're not going to read reviews about it elsewhere. It's also relatively new, so you're not going to read as much about it in as many other places. It's not a silver-bullet, but it is a pretty well-priced option. When I was studying, the materials were still in their infancy and were just a supplement at best. I didn't find them particularly useful. HOWEVER, that was 2 years ago, and I have to say that from what I've seen since that time, the materials seem to have improved substantially and are probably now a very cost-effective, very viable solution. I do think that Jeff's goal is to make a product that will allow people to pass without breaking the bank. So, I think if you are willing to work hard, his product will cover the information required to pass.

The biggest wild-card is whether or not his style is one that you will be able to understand well and learn from. If you didn't feel like Roger was the best for you, and if you're planning to buy 1 exam at a time, then give NINJA a shot. You're not going to have many options for a similar price point, and the BOGO offer is a good deal. Worst case scenario, you don't like it and switch to something else for your 3rd and 4th exams…and if that happens, you're out the same expense as if you'd bought 1 exam at full price.

I'm not a diehard fan of the NINJA products, but have to admit they're a good price and with the BOGO, they're a pretty safe “risk”. Unless you want to go the Wiley books (no lectures) route – that's the cheapest I've seen, and the one I picked, but by golly are those books dry and boring. 😐

do it!! you will not be sorry. the ninja mcq software is amazing and a must have imo. the ninja audio is great for all the sections but was a life save for REG and a double lifesaver for AUD. ninja notes are great to hammer the high level areas.and blitz videos are great if you only have a shortish time and need to refresh on certain areas. ninja is an incredible supplement to your review course. i highly highly highly recommend it.

I highly recommend the Ninja products! I have Gleim as well and just get so overwhelmed with the material. Ninja seems to be laid out so much nicer and made me feel more confident going into exam day. I didn't use Ninja for FAR but I used it for the rest of my tests. I used Ninja MCQ for BEC, Ninja MCQ and Ninja Notes for my AUD re-take and I won a 10 point combo for REG. I use Ninja MCQ a lot – it is a very cheap price to get lots of extra MCQs and SIMS! You can't beat it! I know I didn't do so well on my first time at REG but I owe that fail to lack of time to study (not my study materials). I felt a lot better on my re-take. I listened to all the Ninja Audio, read through the Ninja book, and would try to go through the Ninja Notes as often as I could. I also used the Ninja flashcards quite a bit. Then I listened to Blitz the day before the exam. All the products were helpful to my study and I felt pretty good about the material. I think it is worth a try and you really can't beat the price! Especially if they help you pass the first time. After adding Ninja, I passed BEC and AUD on the first try. I really like the Ninja products.

I'm pretty new to this site as well. I just took FAR on November 22nd at first only using Becker materials however I still felt vastly under prepared then I came across NINJA. I read the reviews and feedback and decided to purchase NINJA notes and NINJA MCQ and it definitely filled in gaps in my knowledge I followed the NINJA study method by rewriting the notes several times before the exam I also took notes on my multiple choice my only wish is that I found it sooner because this was only 2 weeks prior to the exam. I put a lot of quality hours into studying and I guess we will see come December 9th if it paid off. Regardless, I'm going into REG in January and I plan to use NINJA from the start because I saw what it did for me in 2 weeks, I can only imagine how I will feel after 6-7 weeks of using the system.

    FAR 80
    AUD 79
