    Hi everyone,

This is my first post and I have been wanting to start studying for the CPA.

I am currently in the tax field so busy season is coming up. I am planning on studying post 4/15 and FAR will be my first topic.

I am not a very good study person…I hate reading the books and can’t really pay attention to lectures. I have been told Becker is the way to go for study tool, but based on my study habits, I don’t think Becker would be it for me. And it would be a huge waste to get it (over $3k) if I cannot use it to the full potential.

My question is…if i purchase the Ten Point Combo, will I have enough resources to pass the CPA? I know redoing the MCQs and writing notes are very important and that was how I pass my previous exams in college. I generally cram everything in before an exam.

I think I would want to take the exams in the following order: FAR, REG, BEC, AUD with 2-3 weeks of studying for each exam.

With the Ten Point Combo, my study habits, and time studying, will this be doable? Would appreciate advice from you folks.

My goal is to pass the exam and not have to master the concept.

10 point combo is more than enough to pass!

    A - 75
    B - 78 God is good.
    F - 77 Answered prayers.
    R - 84! Done!!

Paperwork sent - waiting for license!!
Still on a cloud and in shock. Through God, all things will happen.

You need to read Jeff's guide to study for the CPA Exam. I believe that would help you make a decision.

On a more personal note, I recently purchased the 10 point combo, and it has everything needed to pass the exam. I am comparing it to Wiley, which I used to pass 3 exams. Before, I fell for the whole Becker is awesome spill, and wasted $3K on a program that did not fit me. The whole watch and highlight is a complete waste of time. I studied my butt off trying to pass with Becker, but it was not for me. My issue was the MCQ's that made you go 10 miles for the answer, but the exam only makes you go 1-2 miles for every answer.

    Hope that helps!

10 point combo is all I used to pass FAR. I was too poor/cheap to go for Becker. I used the MCQs and audio, and to a lesser extent the video and flash cards.

Thanks for all your input…think I will stick with just the Ten Point Combo for my study tool.

How did you guys study with the Combo? For example, did you read all your notes first, write them down on paper to help cram the stuff in, and then take MCQs over and over?

I started with the MCQs, then reviewed problem areas in an older textbook that I had or watched the videos. I used the audio in the car during my commutes. I read through the Ninja notes during breaks at work. I used the flashcards when I was stuck walking around shopping with my wife.

I used becker to pass 3 exams, and I felt like Ninja materials were everything Becker was, and more, for 1/10 of the price. My Becker expired before I took audit, and they wanted $500 just to access that section!

At that point, I figured I would give Ninja MCQ a shot (I don't find the books and lectures to be very helpful). At $47 for one section, its a steal! You can do a custom setup, and go section by section just like Becker, or you can let the adaptive learning do its thing. I also find the explanations better for Ninja, because they include definitions and codification references.

    REG - 90 (08/2014) - Study Time = 6 days
    FAR - 89 (10/2014) - Study Time = 9 days
    BEC - 83 (11/2014) - Study Time = 4 days
    AUD - 89 (01/2015) - Study Time = 2 days

    Final score released - 2/4/15
    Application mailed - 2/5/15
    Licensed CPA - 2/12/15
