Test Order

So I know this topic has probably already been hammered to death, however, I need some advice.

On July 1st (1st day of the next window) I plan to annihilate BEC once and for all. While I don’t want to get ahead of myself as anything is possible, I am 100% positive in my knowledge base and ability to finally get BEC out of the way.

This will be my first passed exam.

What should be my next step? I recently started a full time position in a public accounting firm and am doing taxes non-stop. I feel comfortable with Regulation right now as I took the Becker course for it back in November and was hoping to take it in March. But failing BEC for a second time in February by only 3 points led me to beleive that it would be best to re-focus on BEC. In the process my REG NTS had expired.

Right now I have an open slate: What is everyone’s recommendation for which exam to choose next? Assuming I pass BEC; the clock begins!

"If you're going through hell, keep going"
    - Winston Churchill

"I've missed over 9,000 shots in my career. I've lost over 300 games. 26 times I've been trusted to take the game winning shot, and missed. I've failed, over and over and over again in my life. And that is why, I succeed."
    - Michael Jordan

    BEC: (54), (72), 80 (losing credit on 02/02/15 - nervous)
    AUD: 78
    REG: (74), 91
    FAR: (71)

I've heard the recommendation to take them in this order:

    FAR

    AUD

    REG

because AUD builds on FAR, and REG builds on AUD. I'd guess it's true in the reverse order, too, though, so if you feel most comfortable with REG right now, then I'd think you could do REG, AUD, FAR and have the same benefits. I've only taken BEC, though, so this is just hearsay! (I think I first saw that on Wiley's site, but have seen it repeated elsewhere.)

i did FAR BEC REG and AUD

the only reason being is i wanted to get FAR out of the way first since it is the most material and seemed like a good way to jump right into it. i did the rest then because BEC is short (in terms of study material) REG is longer and AUD is short

so really i had no particular reason to base my decision other than the amount of study material and how much time i thought each section would take. and i will say that although BEC and AUD were not easier by any means, i spent signiciantly less time on these sections compared to FAR and REG

My advice is hardest to easiest.

I was intimidated by how hard everyone said the CPA exams were going to be. I kept putting it off until one person suggested that I do easiest to hardest to gain momentum and confidence. So I did that. AUD, BEC, REG, FAR. In retrospect, I sort of regretted it because I struggled so much with REG and FAR that AUD and BEC both expired and I had to retake them. Wasted a lot of time and money.

I wished I had the guts from the beginning to have taken them in order from hardest to easiest). For me that would be REG. FAR, BEC, AUD. But it's different for everyone. I'm an auditor (public now private industry) so REG was hardest because I have no tax knowledge or experience. AUD was easiest for me. I could walk in without studying much for that one at all.
