TESTLET DIFFICULTY – FAR

I know that getting a “harder” testlet is supposed to be a good thing, but could this work against you if it’s too hard? My first book was super easy, and I definitely noticed a change in difficulty level by book 2. I had to guess on about 20/30 questions. I can’t see how this possibly works in my favor.

Book 3 was back to being relatively easy and my SIMS were ok (had a general idea on all questions but didn’t master any).

Anyone have a similar experience with difficulty levels changing so much?

How did you end up doing?

    FAR - 11/30/14 -79
    AUD - 2/19/15 -86
    BEC - 4/09/15 -86
    REG - 11/30/15 -87

@FutureNinja Unfortunately No relation. That guy is a legend!! A tentative reschedule is probably a good idea for myself as well. The fact that I had to guess on almost every question in book 2 is really scaring me. This is also my first test so I am not sure how the “curve” will effect me.

If it were a Becker practice exam I would say I would have got:

    BOOK 1 – 85

    BOOK 2 – 40-50

    BOOK 3- 76

    SIM 1 – 100

    SIM 2 – 65

    SIM 3 – 45

    SIM 4 – 100

    SIM 5 – 75

    SIM 6 – 100

    SIM 7 – 70

I guess we will see how this translates to CPA score on the 9th.

    BEC - 4/09/15 -86

Felt the difficulty change for my FAR exam. 2nd and 3rd were significantly harder than the 1st. I had to guess 1/4 of the questions, but still got pretty high scores. For my REG and BEC, on the other hand, I barely noticed the difficulty differences…

    AUD - 99
    BEC - 92
    FAR - 97
    REG - 94
    Accounting

    FAR (4/14/14) - 97
    REG (11/17/14) - 94
    BEC (11/30/14) - 92
    AUD (2/28/15) - 99
    TEARS!

How do you typically know if the testlets are harder? Yesterday when I took it, I noticed the second was more difficult than the first for the most part. There were instances where the questions were almost like a paragraph…I've seen where people have said that's an indication of getting a harder testlet….so I'm hoping the second testlet was in fact “harder”. The third one I'd say was probably somewhere in the middle, there were easy questions which I answered in about 10 seconds, and there were others I needed to spend more than 3 minutes on before finally guessing.

Fingers crossed for that 75+ score on 2/4/15!
