    If I were to pick one/two text books (not CPA review books) for each of these, what would be your recommendation? I do know the review courses are the best way to tackle the exam though.

    AUD -> Such as Arens

    REG

    FAR

    BEC

    Thanks.

    Consensus is that textbooks aren't really good for learning the material for the CPA exam. They go into too much detail.

    With that being said, I did find myself looking at my most recent Tax textbook quite a few times while studying REG. South-Western Federal Taxation Comprehensive Volume 2014. It explains things really well and has a lot of good examples to clarify issues.

    I am taking a partnership tax class right now and I have to agree that the textbook is so detailed that I would be lost in the details if I was using it to study for REG. I prefer the review course books because they outline the “must knows” instead of making you feel like you have to know everything.

    CPA Exam - Finally DONE (November 2014)
    BEC (08/10/13) 80
    AUD (08/24/13) 65 (11/13/13) 85
    FAR (04/12/14) 81
    REG (07/19/14) 69 (11/29/14) 87!!
