The day/night before an exam, what do you do

I’m interested to see how people handle the time headed up into taking an exam. I’m sure some study up until the last minute. Is there any science as to how to best prepare the night before for the grueling battle with an exam?

sex? movies? study? sleep? eat before or after exam?

    Just wondering.

Wife would cook a meal, sit in the hot tub for a while, relax, not think about the exam.

For FAR and AUD, I didn't do any studying the day before the exam.

For BEC, my boss told me to work from home that day, keep myself available but to use the day to cram. We'll find out next week if that helped me pass or not. But the main reason I studied was because I felt I owed it to her to study since she, essentially, gave me the day off to study.

Day of exam. Nothing. I go in, take my exam, and then just try to decompress for a couple of days.

haha, I hear you. I'm here doing progress tests and studying notes. I hopefully get lucky later tonight in order to relieve some stress.

I never did anything the day before, my mind needed to rest. A good night sleep is the most important thing, then go nom-nom-nom that test.

The last two exams, I just relaxed and did nothing. I didn't think about it too much. I came close to doing a one last review for REG one hour before the exam. I opted to get a burger and fries instead. I tell you what, there was this small Mediteranean place in one of the buildings that I ordered a burger from. But it it WAS SO DAMN GOOD ESPECIALLY THE FRIES. I was like Oh $***, I made a mistake by having a big meal before the exam. But you know what, I killed REG. I plan on doing the same thing for AUD and FAR.

Last 3 exams I've had a regular breakfast and then ate a few protein bars before the exam. I don't want to eat too much and fall asleep or have to take a huge dump mid exam. But I dig the “who cares” attitude. It definitely make it less stressful.

I mean think about. You start thinking about it, you start to panic then you begin to second guess yourself on the exam which will hurt you. Just relax and let your mind clear. Go into the exam with a clear mind will help you focus better. Who knows you may surprise yourself. I know I did with REG.

I should just roll into the exam wearing a wife beater and cargo shorts.

I just do MCQ over and over! I don't stay up late and if there is something that seems to need some memorization I write it out a few times that night and then in the morning right before I go in. I feel like I can learn from the MCQ i get wrong but I don't think I want to focus on one major topic the day before. Sure, you might get some questions on it, but I would rather things be fresh on all topics than just a troubled one.

For all my exams I made it a point to not answer a single question the day before the exam. I simply read through my important notes/formulas. The reason being questions are taxing on the brain, and I simply didn't see a point in putting my brain through the ringer the day before the exam. I just tried to get as much coverage as possible on the material until about 3 or 4pm came along.

For all my tests I went out with my wife and son to an early dinner to take my mind off everything. I then woke up the morning of the exam and spent an hour or so reading through my important notes.

Everyone is a bit different, but I prefer to rest my brain the day before the exam. Actually, thinking about it, for my last test BEC my son was in the hospital on the saturday night before my Monday test….I was so worn out that I barely did anything on sunday besides rest up. It worked!

    Audit(11/5/13) - 89
    Reg(5/16/14) - 86
    FAR(7/18/14) - 82
    BEC(11/14) - 85

Yeah, i just put the MCQ down. I continue getting the same % correct on them no matter what I do. I will glance at my note-cards and mnemonics the rest of the night and tomorrow before the exam.

Don't do any MCQ's. Re-read my handwritten notes and the Ninja notes. Make sure to take a few minutes to make sure I have my ID and paperwork, and to review basic time allocation. I also get a shot of wheat grass for 3 days leading up to and including test day.

sex before the battle is bad luck. I eat meal good for 2 persons, drink milk and sleep early. eat banana and chocolate 45 minutes before the exam. read ninja notes only and no more mcq's. prepare documents such as NTS and IDs.

    8:00am – wake up

    8:15 to 8:45 eat breakfast(pancakes)

8:46-9:10 shit, shower, shave (if female- just shower & shave)

    9:10-9:12- remember 9/11

    9:13am-10pm study.

Then get a good nights sleep.

All jokes aside…I don't believe in the “give your mind a rest” mentality. As long as you get a good nights sleep you should be good to go the next day. The little details that I can many can only retain in short term memory will be fresh in your mind if you make sure to study the day before! That's my thought anyways. Good luck!

    FAR - 11/30/14 -79
    AUD - 2/19/15 -86
    BEC - 4/09/15 -86
    REG - 11/30/15 -87

    I'M DONE! ITS OVER! WOOOOOOO!!!!!!!
