    Thanks for the great news on the ethics exam for Florida. It makes sense now that I couldn't find anything online about it! Also good to hear that they turn around the licensing so quickly. Thanks again and congrats on your accomplishment!

    What did your boss put for the dates of the work experience? I've worked for a CPA for seven years. Some of this time was before, during, and after I was eligible to sit for the exam. Do you know if the CPA should list your entire employment time or only the portion that the state would count towards the one year? I asked the state and never received a response.

    I'm glad to hear there is no ethics test and that you had such a quick turnaround with the license.

    I'm totally a lurker also. I have this page bookmarked so it's too convenient to not come here. It's also been part of my morning coffee routine for over a year…. kind of hard to break this habit.

    Wolf-

    That's not true about PA… you need 400 or 800 hours of “attest” experience (not necessarily public experience) depending on your education level with a total of 1 or 2 years experience, respectively. If you have public experience, they sign off on it right away. They will interview you if you don't have public experiencne. I work in Government as an auditor so they had to interview me to make sure my attest experience was equivalent to public “attest experience”.

    This forum helped me out with advice and recommendations from people. I learned a lot. I passed all parts of the exam last year. I have been working in accounting but the work didn't qualify me for the experience. So just yesterday I got a surprise call for a position that I had interviewed for last summer but was held up because of politics. Anyways they finally could offer me the position and I start May 16, and it will be in auditing and qualify me for licensure. Thanks again to Jeff and everyone at this forum!

    @jenbee9

    My boss listed my entire lenght of employment. We both found it strange that they asked for the total “hours”, but I guess they are just covering all bases. I think the Board then looks at when you became eligible to sit for the exam, and your subsequent experience.

    I was honestly shocked at how fast they approved my application. I haven't received my certificate in the mail, but when I check the FL website, I am listed as a CPA!

    Good Luck!

    How long were you guys in shock after passing the exam? I found out in March I passed the whole thing and it still brings a smile to my face now. I can't believe its finally over

    I'm still in shock, but I received my invitation to apply this week so that has kicked my fanny into gear to get all the paperwork. I graduated prior to the 150 credit rule, so I'm literally taking my final this week for my 5 credit courses needed for licensing (Spanish class- it could have been Underwater Basket Weaving, but they say I need 150, sooooo…..).

    I'm hoping to send in my application next week, if I can get my transcripts, so then I can go on VACATION with nary a care in the world!

    I was a lurker around score time just because I wanted to read about people that were in the same boat as me….I still can't believe it's over, I can finally accept invitations to go on trips and not have to use the excuse “I have to study”…though my initial thoughts when someone asks are “I would but I have to study”

    I met my gf December of 2009 and Started studying January of 2010…she's almost as excited as I am….glad to be done

    congrats to all of you
