Well I felt I ought to write something. I actually found out I passed my last exam on June 6th last window.

It took me four years to get through this dreaded horror with many failures. I didn’t post all my attempts on my score list but I want people to know that if I can do it so can you. It just takes a lot of hard work and dedication. I started my CPA journey in July 2010 in which I used Becker and signed up for all 4 parts back to back. How naive I was to think I could just zip through all of them with little studying. It took me a total of 9 times to pass Audit. I kept using Becker over and over and getting close but never a pass I was so frustrated I didn’t know what to do. I found this site A71 and started reading other peoples stories and methods. Kricket was very inspiring and I knew I could not give up. In Nov 2012 I took FAR and passed. This finally gave me the motivation I needed to continue to go on. I than was able to pass Audit finally but I switched to using Wiley paperback book. I used a combination of Becker and Wiley along with Jeff’s audio and that is what made the difference of me passing. Thanks to Audit my FAR expiration was on the line and I need to pass Reg by June 2014. So once again I used Becker and took it in Feb and failed. I than switched to Wiley and took it again at the end of May and passed with an 81. These exams are not for the weak. It truly is a journey and you must be discipline to keep going and you have to study. Once I truly surrendered and focused and started studying my butt off did I start to pass. I am a living testimony that it can be done. Nobody fails forever and you will get there. I am going to list all my scores. Use this as a motivation that if someone like me can do it with all my many failures so can you. I received my license# 2 weeks ago and I can finally say I am a CPA…

So here are all my scores for each section:

    Audit-56,48,73,73,74,73,72,64,90

    Bec-36,65,67,71,76

    Reg-55,54,66,81

    Far-42,75

    FAR-42,75
    AUD-56,48,73,73,74-really,73,72,64,90 (this took multiple tries)

Baxtercpa who is another A71 poster here was in the same position too where she had to take the exams multiple times too. Even after so many failures, she didn't give up but perservered and is now a CPA.

It is truly inspiration to see how CPA's and CPA candidates have to grind through to pass one of the hardest exams ever to be administered.

Thanks @sjnedd08 for posting. That gives me hope! So far I've taken a total of 7 exams (AUD,BEC,REG) and still haven't passed. To be honest after each failing score felt like being hit with a shovel and I would walk away from the entire process for months at a time. I recently joined another71 to get support and commiserate with others also struggling. I love reading stories from others who also have taken the long road to the CPA, it truly gives me hope. Because if I hear one more time about so & so who passed on the first try, those shovels hitting me are going to start hitting someone else 🙂

Thank you for posting. Your story is very inspirational.

Gian-By the time I took FAR the second time around I had taken Audit so many times that I kind of knew how to study and FAR was my first passing score. I just decided to take my time with it because I knew it was alot and I dedicated 4 months to it. If I didn't study everyday it was okay. My suggestion is to take as much time as you need. You have to really know the material backwards and forwards. My mistakes earlier was trying to rush and just retake obviously not a good method.

CPA2015-Just keep pushing forward. I believe I took the exam a total of 13 times before I got my first passing score.

Yes there are those people there who pass the first time around and seem to pass through with ease. However I was not one of those people and I had to study alot to get there. I can honestly say I was not dedicated in the beginning I wanted to still watch my TV and go out and dedicate few hours to studying. Another thing that was frustrated was having to tell everyone when I did not pass. I solved that problem quick I stopped telling people and only my husband and best friend would know when I took it. You will get there do not give up. A71 is such a good support system and we are all here for each other.
