It sounds like you are covering the material but just need to add a couple of techniques. I was suggesting putting REG off because you said you were only half way through the material and thought FAR would be more fresh.
Anyway, I want to offer a few suggestions. Yes it is imperative that you watch the lectures, do the MC, progress tests, etc. but sometimes more is needed. Trust me.
1. Do you have a schedule of how you are studying? I have one of those dry erase boards. I would list each section of Becker on the left side and the tasks I wanted to complete across the top. Such as watch video, complete MC's, outline chapter, record note cards, on my voice recorder, complete the Becker Final Review lectures, MC, etc. It was a sort of grid if you can picture it like that. Each time I completed a task, I would check it off. This kept me on track and not jumping from one lecture to another and made sure I covered everything.
2. Go through your book and WRITE out anything and everything that Becker says to memorize from journal entries, mnemonics, formulas, examples of every type of BS, IS, in NFP, etc. EVERYTHING AND WRITE it out. This is going to be very time consuming. There is just something about putting a pencil to paper versus typing notes on a spreadsheet. I tried that and it didn't work. Actually I would have two identical lists. For example, on one list I would have a mnemonic of what would make up pension costs. On the second list, I would have the mnemonic listed but with blanks. I would then make multiple copies of those blank lists and give myself tests if you will.
3. Take everything you have written out and record in some way. I used a voice recorder. This way you can always be studying whether it be in a car, doing laundry, mowing the lawn, at the beach and even at a NASCAR race.(true) For FAR, I used the NINJA audio at work and would listen to Jeff sometimes two and three times a day.
4. If your financial situation allows, purchase Becker Final Review.
5. When you start studying for FAR again, start from scratch as if you have never seen the material.
6. How many hours are you studying per day and on the weekends? You may need to increase this.
7. For a little inspiration, print out your scores from the NASBA website. Make copies of this and post it on the fridge,
cubicle at work, bathroom mirror, etc. That way everywhere you turn, you will see those passing BEC and AUD scores.
You have done it once with AUD and you can again. I started this once I passed AUD and now to this day have the final
print out taped to my cubicle right above my CPA license.
8. For even more inspiration, go to the A71 passed I'm done thread and read some of those stories.
9. Never under estimate the power of visualization and speaking words of victory over this exam. Visualize(imagine) yourself calling a friend and telling them that you made a 74 on BEC and let them say oh now. And then say 74 plus one. This very thing happened to me when I passed BEC. And don't say “if” I ever pass this exam but “when”.
I hope some of this helps. Best wishes on REG!
This is an exam that requires, desire, dedication, determination and discipline. You have all of these qualities. Just keep going.
