Thought you passed…but Failed?

I think we’ve all seen the posts that basically go “wow I walked out of the testing center upset/crying blah blah thought I failed, left SIMS blank…and I passed!” and we’ve all said to ourselves, “hey, there’s hope for me”

But I just got my REG score after convincing myself I passed….and I got a 65. Not even like a 74, 73…a 65. I passed Audit and left two whole SIMS blank (They were on FAR material, how I supposed to know about FAR yet)

On REG, I filled out every SIM pretty confidently, except maybe one that I figured was a pre test. Thought MCQ were difficult but nothing extraordinary. And failed. Spectacularly. There were a ton of questions on one ancillary concept (anyone who took REG knows what I’m talking about) but other than that, I’m pretty shocked at my score.

Has this ever happened to anyone else? Thinking you did well, which is a rare feeling to have after taking the cpa exam, and just being blindsided?

REG is the only test I've felt this way with. I've felt confident everytime I've taken it and still failed. This time (3rd) I feel like I failed it even though I studied harder. Maybe that's a good sign with this round. Hopefully I'm done but probably won't find out until Monday.

I'm assuming because he's in California and they typically get their scores 1 day later.

Does anyone know how long it takes to get score notifications that break down your weaker/stronger areas after you get your score?

I must have had to bomb MCQ, no way I was wrong on those SIMS

Unfortunately the 2nd time I took AUD I would have bet the farm that I passed. You can see how that turned out.

@mia1169 How did you jump almost 19 points for REG? Do anything different, or did you just half ass the first time so the score jump was bound to improve.

I'm not entirely sure how well prepared I was for REG the first time I took it, but I will tell you I rushed through it and didn't finish becuase I was ill that day. Not blaming my score on being sick entirely but I can say I did nothing different the 2nd time unfortunately.

@KGC111210 yup! well I know for sure in CA. This happened back in Dec for score release… posted early on Friday and then CA was the next day. Maybe see if you can dig up old threads for score release and see what Texas peeps say if you don't get an answer.

@KGC111210 – I've gotten 2 of my scores back on a weekend, so its possible they could before Monday. Someone posted in another thread that they emailed the state board and they told her that they wont be released until the next business day at the earliest. But in the past I have seen it done earlier than that, on a weekend. I'm praying that the release them before Monday, this is torture!!

@banks94 – I have DEFINITELY felt the same as you walking out of a test thinking I nailed it only to find out I failed. This happended with FAR the last time I took it (I know, suprising that it was with FAR). But I studied more for that test than any other attempt or any other section, and felt great going into it, and even felt great while taking it. Usually the simulations are what trip me up but I felt decent about the ones I got. I remember walking out of that test thinking “if THAT didnt do it I have no idea what will.” I was sure I got at least an 80, only to find out I got a 69. Just doesnt make sense AT ALL. I have no idea why and thats the most frusterating part – I wish I could at least see my exam to see what I got wrong. So I've been there, dont know what to do about it except keep trying….

I never failed a section, but I did think I failed REG horribly but ended up with an 82. I also thought I pretty much nailed FAR and got my lowest score of all my exams.

However, with BEC and AUD, I was certain I passed with high marks, and I did.

You just never can tell, I guess.

    BEC: (4/2012) 88
    AUD: (5/2012) 91
    REG: (8/2012) 82
    FAR: (1/2013) 78 šŸ™‚

For FAR – I left the testing center feeling good and felt I passed.. and I did

Reg – I felt like quitting by the time I got to the 3rd testlet… I felt like shit after the test and expected to fail… but passed

Aud – Felt that I passed with a good grade…. received a decent score

I just took REG today and was on the verge of tears when I was driving home. Every single one of my SIMs in exception to the research question had calculations and I didn't know how to do them. Research took me forever and I had to use my best judgement on nearly all the calculations. The SIMS made me feel like I don't know anything. MCQs were as expected– I know I made a few errors but it was doable.

I don't know if it is even possible to pass if I feel this way but praying that the beast has passed me by…

    AUD- 76 | Fail | 92
    REG- fail | 80
    BEC- 78 | 83
    FAR- fail | fail | fail | 77

I AM DONE. PRAISE THE LORD GOD ALMIGHTY.
