Thoughts on CPAexcel or Ninja?

    Wiley Question –

Well I have narrowed down my review courses to two, CPAexcel and Ninja. I was wondering if I could get some input from those of you that have used, or are using full version of CPAexcel (Gold or Silver) as well as Ninja. I was able to go through CPAexcel free two week trail and I liked the set up. I was looking for something like this for Ninja, but I either can’t see it or they do not offer something like this. I mean the Ninja site is “busy” and I think I looked all over, but I have been known to overlook something now and then. I would really like to test drive it for a day or two to see, if I would like to go this this at half the price as CPAexcel.

I would not be purchasing any additional studying items, I think CPAexcel Silver/Gold has plenty of stuff in the package, but I do not know that much about Ninja.

    Any thoughts?

Ninja materials are normally supplementary to a full course.

I do the full CPAExcel course, and then the week before exam, I bounce between CPAExcel simulated exams and MCQs. I feel this has allowed me to pass REG and AUD. (didn't do this for BEC). I will certainly be doing this for FAR in November.

Im using CPAexcel as my main review course and I supplement with the Ninja material. Cpaexcel is very thorough but also very redundant in the way they present the material. I have the gold version and at first I was using everything they had to offer. Videos, study text, flashcards, etc and found it to be very time consuming. I stuck with going over just the study text, exam questions, and making notes of important items and missed questions. Then to reinforce and keep the material in my head, I rewrote the ninja notes throughout each week and listened to the ninja audio when driving or working out. I also purchased Ninja Mcq to further practice each section. The good thing about both is that you get free updates until you pass (except for ninja mcq). I know some have used both on their own to pass but it all depends on how you learn best. We'll see in a few weeks if my way works.

I am using CPAexcel and find that it so far allows me to take my studying at smaller sections at a time. I am able to knock out at least one section during lunch. and then cram at night when I am at home. I am also using Ninja audio during my commutes and down time. I have heard nothing but good things on Ninja MCQ's so I will more than likely get those towards the end of my REG studies to supplement CPAexcel and jam as many as I can during my review period.

@005 – I'm digging your signature. I just started out my studies but feel I have been drinking so much coffee to help me stay awake lol!

When you say the store is “busy” – do you mean that there are so many choices that it's tough to tell what's what?

This will be helpful feedback if you can elaborate.

Thanks everyone for the the insights, I think I will go with my first tought and purchase CPAexcel. When I found this site a little over 3 or so weeks ago, I noticed that they said you could use this as a stand alone study platform, which really opened my eyes seeing if I went with this I would be only paying half (maybe even less) than what I am going to shell out for CPAexcel course.

I will have to look at the audio, I have 1hr drive in and hour drive home from work so the audio might be a good thing to get.

Once again, thank you to all that have answered and best wishes on your exams and studying!!!!

With the addition of NINJA MCQ, it truly is a standalone platform – people pass using only NINJA now (but the majority already have a course and use it as a supplement).

A video course explains the concepts and provides questions for application.

NINJA MCQ does this all in one, but it's much more affordable. Once the NINJA books are all out (only BEC is complete), people who don't want to spend $1500+ for a course will have a viable option that costs much, much less (and has better software).

    Hi Jeff!

I hope you did not take that the wrong way. My mind works in odd ways when I am looking over data, websites, articles, etc. I think what happened was that I have been so busy looking over Roger, CPAexcel, Becker, etc., websites that by the time I found Another71 my mind was fried with all the options on the body of the web page to click on and visit. I felt for the first few min. lost, but when I say the “store” menu button at the top all was good.

I used CpaExcel+Ninja Audio+WileyTB to pass FAR. A little over the top but it did the trick. I found the Ninja audio a good way to remember the bullet points, CPAExcel just has too much information and does not crunch it down in anyway, unless you take notes on the way. I found the WileyTB to be excessive though, CPAExcel has plenty of questions alone to give you practice, and if you want more MCQs get the NINJA MCQs, they are cheaper!

No offense taken at all – I'm considering paring down my options and comboing some items, so I didn't know if the store was overwhelming as far as what to get.

@005 – seems to be a part of the magical mix for you…..I think I'll replicate your style and hopefully get these all done on the first try!!!

    @jaldri01
    – I have a 1 hour commute in the morning and afternoon. The Ninja audio is awesome and really helps you getting the major concepts down. I feel like it is my review time and am able to retain the main items of the material while I move ahead in my studies.
