    Testlet 1 = 45 minutes
    Testlet 2 = 45 minutes
    Testlet 3 = 45 minutes
    SIMS = 1 hour and 45 minutes

    Most often its recommended 30 – 45 mins per testlets 1 – 3 and the remaining time to be used on the SIMs.

    I used 35 – 40 mins and it worked perfectly for me. I had enough time to answer sims and check my ans.

    May the force be with you .

    As soon as you get testing write down these numbers and stick to the schedule as best you can:

    400
    315
    230
    145

    Roger Review suggests 45 minutes on each set of 30 MCQ and 15 each for the 7 SIMS (total of 1 hour 45 minutes).

    I would agree that this is wise and reasonable allocation of time.

    30min 1st MCQ
    45min 2nd MCQ
    45min 3rd MCQ
    2hours SIMs (at least 1hr30min)

    This is my recommendation. Make sure you have 1hr 30 min for SIMs even it means you have to rush through by guessing the MCQ.

    I pretty much stuck to the 45-minute per testlet plan, as others have mentioned. That left about 1:45 for the SIMS, which really wasn't even enough and I didn't even finish two of them. Then again, the SIMS were so difficult for me that I could have left twice as long and still wouldn't have come up with anything better. Bottom line, the more time you can leave for the SIMS, the better.

    @marqzho

    what is the reason for giving less time of 30 min for 1 st and then more time of 45 min for 2 nd and 3rd testlet .

    In my far exam ( fail 73) ,
    1) 1st testlet was bigger with many calculations and thinking ,took 1 hour .
    2)2nd testlest was easy with less calculation , done in 50 min .
    3)again 3 rd testlet took more time .
    4)thus less time left for simulations. could not complete it . But fast I have filled as many as places . also at the end when could not even read simulation ,filled 0 in al places .
    5) I wish even 5 min more would have added few more marks to give me passing in far .

    so how u guys keep your speed so fast to have 30 min or 45 minutes .

    please help me to improve time

    I thought 1.5 hours for the sims would be enough. I was wrong. Then again, I'm pretty sure I wouldn't have gotten everything if I had left 3 hours.

    If I was taking it again I would shoot for:

    Testlets – 45 mins each, but I'd really try to knock out the first one quicker.

    Because of the difficulty of the testlet. The 1st one is supposed to be at moderate level, and 2nd and 3rd are supposed to be at difficult level (assume you do good at the exam)

    And I think this is consistent with the exam structure, since the more difficult of question is, the heavier it weighs in your score.

    If you see numbers in the answer, read the last sentence of the question first.

    There is really no tip on how you can do MCQ quick but keep practicing more and more MCQ so you can minimize your time to recall the concept.

    I took FAR last week. I had two hours left for SIMS, and used all of it. I would say if I had more time I would have used it, but at that point if you don't know the SIMS after two hours your just trying to come up with the best educated guess. I think the ideal time for SIMS is 1.5-2 hours. If you have less time you won't be able to reason through them fully. if you have more time you probably could have spent more time thinking about a few multiple choice questions.

    I've heard the 45 min/testlet rule, but I did the best I could to only do 30 so that I would have 2.5 hours for SIMS. I wound up not needing all of the time, but it was nice to get to the end and have time to get through some of the SIMS that threw me for a loop. It also gave me the time to use the AL for all that it was worth to milk as many points as I could from it. If I taught a CPA study course, one of the things I'd tell people is do not flag MCQ's. I do agree it's important to not rush them, but I told myself to read each question twice before selecting an answer, and if I still didn't know it I'd pick the best one and move on. I found in my review that flagging questions takes more time than just answering it, because you spend more time at the end just remembering what the question was about again.
