Tips on handling review for FAR

This is my first section. I have planned out a solid 7 hours/day for the 2 weeks before the test. I was wondering how the review should be best tackled. I haven’t done any sims or progress tests… For MOST of the HW MC’s, I was only able to get through roughly 50% of them. I’m only using self-study from Becker.

Should I even do any TBS or progress tests? Any tips on what will be the most efficient use of my time would be much appreciated!

    BEC - PASS

    FAR - PASS

    AUD - PASS

    REG - PASS

@12Tang — I am in the same boat as you almost. I am just about to begin review-mode. MCQs I have roughly 70%-95% complete for each section. I did all the SIMS once through. I do progress tests occasionally, but my scores are all over the place. Anyone that could offer advice — you'd be benefiting two people on this post 🙂

    FAR - 76! 10/15; (65) 7/15
    BEC - 82! 11/15; (74) 8/15
    AUD - 01/16
    REG - TBA

I used the SIMs mostly to see if I had a grasp on the logic behind the overall concepts and could string different concepts together. I didn't come close to working the majority of them, but I think they're useful.

That said, my preferred review method was to hammer MCQs and research topics I didn't understand (my book, the internet, whatever I could find). I also rewrote my Ninja notes in there as well, but mostly just hit the test bank, several hundred questions a day, topic by topic, until I was comfortable.

Do a quick forum search though and you'll see a hundred different opinions out there – helpful, I know. 🙂

OP: If you have a couple of weeks to review, I would definitely recommend doing all the MCQs again. I also used Becker self-study. I had about a week, so I did some progress tests (about 60 questions) on the chapters I felt more comfortable with and did all the questions on the other chapters I was more on the fence about.

Also, I would 100% do the sims for each chapter. They help to get a comprehensive understanding of the chapters.

Oh and my biggest piece of advice for FAR is to do JEs as you complete the MCQs. This will be the biggest help come exam day!

    REG - 83 11/24/14
    AUD - 94 2/17/15
    FAR - 93 5/26/15
    BEC - 90 8/10/15

A Becker instructor told us that doing ALL the MCQ's again is not an efficient use of time. I'm pretty sure that just doing the ones you got wrong is enough.

While it's rare to get a sim like the ones in your homework, doing them is a good way to gain a better understanding of the topics. That's especially true if you find yourself just memorizing a lot of the MCQ's. If you find your brain falling into that rut, sims are nice for keeping things fresh.

    FAR 57 (11/2014), 64 (1/2015), 79 (7/2015)
    AUD 68 (2/2015), 79 (11/2015)
    REG 79 (1/2016)
    BEC 81 (4/2016)

Thanks everyone! I'll be looking at more SIMS, especially for topics that are harder for me.

I wouldn't waste time on Becker FAR sims if I were you.

@Another85..why not? Will the Becker SIMS not help you prepare? Also, would your rate the MCQ's in Becker tougher than the real exam?

    BEC - 76 (1/24/15)
    REG - 82 (4/13/15)
    AUD - 89 (5/31/15)
    FAR - 78 (8/16/15)

Starting right now I'll be strong
    I'll play my fight song
And I don't really care if nobody else believes
'Cause I've still got a lot of fight left in me
