    Hey guys,

Just started FAR this week, and have to say I’m freaking out a little bit. There is SO MUCH material in this exam. How have those of you that passed FAR stayed the course and not thought about how much information there is to learn!? I know it’s a common theme on this forum that FAR is overwhelming due to its size, but I had no idea before starting on it. What is the best way to take this one step at a time and not think about all of the material there is to memorize?

I’m embarrassed to say that I’m only getting about 50% of these questions right on the first go-around and it’s helping stress me out even more.

Thats typical, there is a ton of material but the further you push the easier it gets. Dont try to focus on hitting a certain amount of hours studying and memorizing, just try to understand the principles and apply them to each MC problem. Each exam that I studied for I usually scored anywhere between 55% – 75% correct the first go around. It will get easier!

FAR is really about quality studying, not quantity, unless you want a 99, then it's both. If you learn, really really learn, about 75% of the material you should be ok. I wrote something in this thread, towed the beginning about the areas I focused on and some of my strategies, using Becker. I supplemented with the NINJA notes and audio, WTB, and the Becker final review program.

    THANK YOU!!!! From F15hy 🙂

Hope that helps, looks like you've done great on your other exams, just keep breathing, you'll be fine as long as you keep studying 🙂

With FAR, I really couldn't tell you how many hours I put in. Every spare second I had was devoted to FAR. It does get easier. Keep plugging away and it will all come together.

For me, studying for FAR was so much worse than actually sitting there and taking the exam. Get through your study course and invest in a CRAM course. There is SO much and it's SO effing detailed, there's no way to really know you've got it. I was so stressed because a concept was so tricky and I'd get it that day, but I knew in 6 weeks, I wouldn't be able to remember it. Just get the concept at that point in time, and you'll be surprised that just a quick brush over it a couple of months later will be enough.

Plus, I always told myself – there's THIS much material and only 90 MCQs/7 SIMS, they can't test everything and what they do test has got to be very limited per concept.

I was totally right. I feel like I got lucky with my exam and could very easily have gotten a 65-70 if I would've gotten a different version.

    FAR - 87 2/18/14
    AUD - 84 4/2/14
    REG - 87 7/23/14
    BEC - 78 8/26/14

I'm finally an *official* CPA - TX

Very helpful! I'm just about to start studying for FAR as soon as my college class wraps up early next week, and the amount of material is really overwhelming. This helped put it into perspective so I can stop psyching myself out.

    AUD 84 (1/9/14-Wiley books/TB + free materials)
FAR 83 (5/21/14-the above + NINJA 10 Pt Combo Lite)
    REG 84 (7/9/14-Wiley books/TB + NINJA Audio/FC/Notes)
    BEC 76 (10/5/14-Wiley books/TB + NINJA Audio/FC)
