Tomorrow is the day that I take the FAR Beast. I am excited because:

    1. I finally get to experience a CPA Exam in all of its marvelous wonder.

    2. If I pass I will (hopefully) not have to go through all of this FAR material again.

    3. If I fail I get a clean slate with no “timeline” to put myself against and I will have some idea of what I am getting myself into.

Here’s to staying pumped up and ready to knock out this exam!

    FAR- 53, next time 5/5/16

good deal! print your nts and put it with your id and don't leave home without them. now hit those mcq's today and get a good night's sleep tonight. go early to exam center because getting you processed to get to computer takes some time. when you first start exam there is a 10 minute period to go through instructions – do not let that time lapse or exam will end before you start. so pay attention. wear comfortable clothes – you cannot put your hands in your pockets so if you have clothes without pockets wear those. during exam keep an eye on the clock to keep your pace moving. for far you want between 1.5 and 2 hours for sims so keep moving. answer every question even if it is a guess. keep breathing. plan on taking the full 4 hours – it flies by. you will get the urge to quit do not stop – finish it! do not try to guage if the testlets are getting easier or harder or try to guess how you are doing. just focus on the question in front of you. eat well but not a lot of fluids so you dont have to take a break. breaks run out the clock and you have to be semi- processed to get back into the test area.
do the aicpa far practice exam to get look and feel of screens, sims and calculator.
    good luck!!!

monikernc- Thanks for the advice. I have my NTS and IDs ready, I took the practice exam two nights ago, and will attempt to go through the exam without taking breaks if possible. Thank you for the advice about the pockets. I have read the rules but never heard that one before.

And also do not freak out if you see a crazy question that you do not know the answer to. It happens and it does not necessarily means that you do not know the material. Besides the fact that you will never know if the question is a pretest or not, like monikernc said time management is crucial in this test. The hours will pass by quickly so do not get hung up on a question too much, flagged it and come back to it later. It is much more effective to spend your energy on questions that are hard but you have an idea on how to arrive to the answer than trying to decipher a question that you do not know the answer and feeling frustated on the process. Remember you are there to get at least a 75 not a 99.

Yaz88- At my nearest testing center they had Sundays available. I even got the reminder call about my exam this morning. So yes depending on your testing center you can take the exam on a Sunday.

monikernc- I meant to come on here last night and post but the site had issues so I was not able to give my story. The day started with me watching my fluid/food intake. I took no breaks during the exam and did not need to use the restroom so that part was good. The MCQs were easier than I thought. The SIMS were exactly what I thought so I was not surprised by the level of difficulty there (and boy was it difficult). I don't think I passed the exam but I was expecting the questions to be more confusing then the straightforward questions that I received. I don't think my testlets advanced to the “difficult” stage but then again I was not focused on that part of the exam. I did notice they had a ton of trap answers from the topics I knew very well so I could see how people could fall for the wrong answers and think they passed the exam with flying colors. But I am sure there were probably answers that I fell for as 4 topics came up more often than I would have liked. There were only 2 questions that I thought could be pretest questions as I felt that most of the exam was covered in my review courses so I have no clue what will happen. I exited the exam with 30 minutes to spare.

Overall, I am really glad that I took the exam. Not only am I not afraid of it anymore but I really enjoyed the whole process. The prometric center staff were awesome, the exam was a ton of fun (yes I realize that means I need to get out more), and I am pumped up to study for the next section. If I find out I did not pass (as long as it is not below a 40) I will not be upset because I know more now than when I started this journey. If I do pass that means I am one step closer to having to say goodbye to this exciting journey which is an unsettling thought.

i am so glad to hear this! i enjoyed far too because i just gave it my best shot to see what it would be like since my nts was expiring. the prometric staff are usually pretty great.
now kick back a bit – you can stay in the mindset by doing light sessions or reviewing anything you felt you were weak on until scores come out. that way if you have to retake you will still have some momentum but you're rested. or you can move onto next section.
if you pass what section will you do next?

I like how optimistic you're about it which is good to see.. Mine on the 16th coming up and kinda freaking out since it my first one… I just don't know if I should jump right ahead to the next section or wait till FAR's result.. because to be honest I would like FAR to be the clock starter rather than Audit or BEC.. What do you guys think??? Start the next section regardless of FAR? or NAH?

SGShiver, I like your attitude. I don't see how you could have failed though, because it doesn't look like anything caught you off guard. I will say though that even if you did fail, it's still a valuable learning experience. I took BEC in May 2014 after really not studying (I had signed up for the exam prior to starting a new job that had a crazy travel schedule). I almost missed the exam because my flight got cancelled and i had a car with a dead battery waiting on me at the airport. I still wound up making a 74. Even though that was painful, it taught me that these exams aren't the scary monster people make them out to be. Remember, about 50% of the people who take it pass so it's not impossible.
