Went in to the exam feeling confident left feeling incompetent. Whoever the people are that make up these questions, they are the ones that I want to take a prepratory class with so i can learn they’re format for the sims and the types of multiple questions they will ask. I think one of the reasons why there is such a low pass rate for the cpa exam is that the person teaching (Narrating) you the material is not the one giving you the exam. In college, the Professor taught, the professor gave. I saw some multiple questions that made absolutely no sense to me and the sad part is it involved topics that I thought i was super comfortable with. I would give an example but don’t to make waves. Anyway, after taking FAR for the 2nd time, I’ve come to realize that if I fail this exam, next study time around, I really have to blow up every single question and make it the hardest simulation I can possibly think of. That’s just how it is and how it has to be. You don’t even want to know how many hours and months i spent preparing for this exam. Don’t get me wrong, I really like Becker and they have helped me tremendously but now it’s time for me to take it to the next level. I’m know I’m not a genius but I know I’m not stupid either. I know when i study and make a valiant effort i see good results and that’s what needs to happen here!! I didnt sleep much last night because I’m still in shock but I am going to win this battle. There will be blood!!!!!!!

I feel the exact same way of my recent FAR exam. I studied 200+ hours using mostly Gleim, reviewing Ninja notes, and occasionally using the Wiley textbook as supplemental support/questions. I used Becker solely back in 2008/2009 two attempts and no dice. My simulations this past exam were what I would have considered the hardest simulations possible. If I don't pass, the only way I can envision being prepared to pass is to scrub the Wiley textbook from front to back (1000+ pages with font that is probably like… size 4. ) The Wiley book is simply overwhelming but I think if you prepped for 8-10 hours a day using only that, you might be ready after 2 months of straight studying. That's the only thing I can think of that would have truly prepared me for the exam I took.

    REG - 65, 70, 80!
    BEC - 35, 62, 79!
    AUD - 73, 75!
    FAR - 65, 73, 70, 75! DONE.

I been using becker and feel that I've learn alot with the review program but I too failed FAR once before and am now retaking it tomorrow. I dont know how to feel especially after reading your post, I'm a little worried. I'm hoping I get favorable sims, I havent been practicing sims too much. I figure if I completely comprehend all the material through the MCQ i should be good for the simulations by default.

    FAR: 68, 74, 75!
    AUD:75!

You know guys, I dont mean to scare any of you with my post. I'm realizing that part of the problem is that Im putting too much pressure on myself to pass these exams. I have to breathe and relax and not treat this like a death sentence. Like i said in someones last post. The cpa exam is difficult and stressful by itself, it does not help to add to the stress. We are all smart and can do this. Just keep doing your best, be efficient, thorough and true to yourself. Don't take anything topic litely, matter of fact even start challenging those topics that you think you are comfortable with. Dig Dig is the key and also pray that you get an easier exam…LOL

Hehe, not scared. The only thing that has scared me in my CPA quest was an incident about a month before my last exam, I decided to ‘relax'/unwind a bit on a Friday night after getting in about 4-5 hours of studying each day of that week. I was severely lacking sleep and had a boatload of crankiness built up due to all the studying. A friend of my husband and I's came over, we had some wine, we went out for dinner, then I blacked out. Then I was in bed all day Saturday. Then I read online recently that when you are moderately sleep-deprived, each alcoholic beverage you have will have 2x the effect on you than if you were sufficiently rested. So the vicious snowball effect of studying = decreased sleep+increased stress = need to have a drink or 5 on a Friday night finally hit me like a ton of bricks. That's when I knew exactly what my mom was talking about when she told me this wasn't worth your mental or physical health, and realized I need this journey to end ASAP.

Damn guys I am studying for FAR and your guys pass rates are kind of freakin me out. Got to go study…

I spoke to an ancient wise man who sent me on a mushroom induced journey through an ancient forest to find the key to passing the CPA exam. A talking spider monkey told me to throw the last of my drinking water in the dirt to find what I was looking for. So I followed his instructions and the following message appeared in the soil:

"Do 5000 multiple choice questions for each section"

I feel the same way about my FAR (2) attempts, I'm waiting on my 2nd score tomorrow, but I really don't have much hope for a pass. The 2nd exam was so much harder than my first attempt 🙁 I used Becker and may consider a different review program for a retake.

    AUD - 90 Pass
REG - 70,61,81 Pass DONE DONE DOOOOONNEEE!!!!!!!!
    BEC - 79 - Pass
    FAR - 70,82 - Pass

so1913….I think its safe to say that they make the exam harder on the 2nd attempt. I really do have a feeling that you passed, I can feel it in my bones…LOL. No seriously you got a 70 on the 1st attempt and who knows maybe the curve will be outrageous this time around and put you over the hump. Did you get through all of the Sims?
