Lucky for me, my Prometric center was open today after being closed for 3 days due to the hurricane. At first, I was hoping they’d be open on my test day. While my wish came true, I now wish they were closed. This test was a nightmare. I’ve gone over EVERYTHING in the Wiley book and everything Phil Yaeger highlighted. About 70% of the material I painstakingly studied were not on the freakin’ test!! I had to stop for a moment to wonder if I was even taking the right exam. About half of my multiple choice questions came out of left field. However, my Simulations weren’t so bad, which is something not many people here said. It was the mutiple choice that I found difficult. And I don’t even know if the testlets got harder. All 3 Multiple Choice testlets were extremely hard, IMHO. I’m so screwed. Here I was studying for 300 hours and I’m probably going to end up with a nice big fat 50!!! I’m so depressed. I don’t understand why the CPA exam is like this. It’s supposed to be on material that’s covered in the Wiley book. But it looks like they are testing on material that Wiley and Yaeger didn’t even cover.

In order to pass this, I’d either have to be one heck of a lucky guy or there’s going to be a nice big curve. But I seriously doubt this will happen. So, I’m expecting to have to retake REG. I’m at a loss for words right now. I don’t even know if any additional studying would’ve helped. I’m so annoyed. This is ridiculous!!

Sorry, I just had to vent.

@Baseball- Yes, kb24 helped put me at ease until he posted a followup telling me that his performance report was stronger in most areas. I was hoping REG would have a generous curve since that's what I need to pass, but if people are doing well on these questions, then the more competitive these exams are graded. I cannot afford to be competitively graded on REG. The exam is ridiculously difficult. Based on my FAR and AUD results, I can tell you that there was some leeway when those exams are graded. I guess it's because other people didn't do as well with the questions. But with REG… when I guess half the questions and other people either said they found them easy or they were strong on their performance report and only got an 80, you can expect me to panic.

I'll make a deal with you. If I passed REG, I will post a followup here offering my sincerest apologies to all AND I will distribute for FREE all of the REG tax notes that I made myself. They are my own informative tax notes that I painstakingly wrote myself so they're not copyrighted. I think they will be helpful to a lot of people.

Now, if I failed REG, then I will post an “I told you so” statement.

lol ok deal, I guess. I'm on your side, dude; I'm just trying to give you a taste of our perception as the people who have read your original post and all subsequent reiterations. I sincerely do hope you pass.

Thanks. I do apologize for being a pain. I'm just freaking out. I guess since my testing experience for REG was much wackier than AUD and FAR, I'm a bit of a nervous wreck. I'll try to hang in there for 3 more weeks.

    @CPAMan

Like you, I'm pretty realistic about how I did on an exam especially right after I take it. I felt that I did decently on my MCQ for my other exams, but I had no idea with REG. It all depended on which ones were test questions, and I didn't think I'd done great even if most of those went my way. What I was trying to convey when I gave you my performance report was that I did a lot better on my MCQ than I'd thought. I interpreted this to mean the passing grade with REG equated to a lower percentage of correct weighted answers than for the other exams.

Side note 1 – I live in TX which is a non-NASBA state. We get our scores later, but we still get performance reports whether we pass or fail.

    Side note 2 – I'm female.

    FAR 4/1/11 - 89
    AUD 4/15/11 - 85
    REG 4/29/11 - 80
    BEC 5/13/11 - 85

Oops, so sorry. I usually put he/she, but I wasn't thinking at the time. Sorry about that.

Hey CPAMan, quick q for ya. Someone might have asked you this already, but it looks like you did really well on your last AUD and FAR exams around April-May (as compared to your first few attempts). Did you do anything drastically different while preparing for those exams/attempts where you passed?

    AUD - 85
    FAR - 78 (lol@ FAR Sims)
    REG - 85
    BEC - August

Don't apologize…sorry if I came off as a jerk; I know how stressful the cpa exam taking/score release process can be first hand. Hopefully you'll have a nice fat passing score come the end of this month!

@ScruffMcGruff- Yes, lots of note taking and LOTS of practice questions using Gleim. I also made sure I studied a MINIMUM of 20 hours a week. Before, I would study when it was convenient.

I am praying for REG now. 75% done so far in my first attempt. Reg is the only monster for me..Hope I could beat it!

@cathyzq- How was your REG exam? Did you find it harder or easier than you expected?

@CPAMan, compared with the other three sections, I would say I had no confidence in my simulation (my strong part) of regulations, but I feel fine for my MCs. I just spent less than 40 days preparing that exam, honestly speaking, it is not enuf. Hope god bless me. But I really tried my best for those 40 days. I did all MCs assigned by Yaeger and MCs in online text bank. Also I did all simulations for twice. I made more than 200 flashcards and 2 notebooks's notes. Hope these efforts could be rewarded.

Actually, I did soso for my BEC, while the result released so far is highest compared with other 2 sections I ever taken. I dont know how they scored our test…I am kinda confused.

I did Yaeger's questions and the Wiley software questions and half of the MCQs on my exam were out of left field. It was weird.

I felt like I studied all that I possibly could for REG and really went in there feeling confident. But those SIMS killed me I just know it. I had to guess practically on all of them. The MCQ weren't easy but they were manageable, whereas the SIMS were just cruel. I couldn't even find some of the topics tested in my review book. I've been honestly debating back and forth whether I should even bother checking my score when its released because I'm taking FAR oct 1 and don't know if I can handle the discouragement of a fail right before taking another exam.

@Happen4reason I had that same debate with myself. I sit Oct 1st for AUD but am waiting for REG & FAR. I don't think I would be able to wait…

    AUD 81 (X4) Previous scores 59, 72, 72
    REG 80 (X3) Previous scores 59, 60
    FAR 75 (X2) Previous score 67
    BEC 79 (X2) Previous score 58

@Happen4reason- Yeah, of all 3 parts I've taken so far, REG was the one where I felt the most confident walking in, but I felt so miserable walking out. It's awful.
