monikernc, from what I recall about REG, it was not necessary to write anything down at the beginning. I did this and never once looked at my cheatsheet. Unless there is something you absolutely cannot commit to memory, you don't need to write anything down.

Anything super tricky was stuff that I had never seen before and had to guess to answer. The cheatsheet would not have helped me. The questions will want you to go through the motions- test one or two points per question and that's it. Basic rates will be provided.

Better to go through a few of the lengthy concepts before noon the day before the exam, relax and get a good night's rest.
I did not practice sims (did not do well on these), or even get my research question correct, and I still passed because it is a straightforward exam.

i know. i have seen that in the ninja sims. on the k1 the deductions had to be negative but not for the 1120s. sim gave no instruction. how do you know when to use a sign?

For me, the multiple choice were very reasonable. Nothing insane or startling. But I found the sims to be difficult. Not just the actual concepts covered, but trying to understand the directions/format (ie. signs, large grids to fill out).

The exam is very straight forward in my opinion.

I would say business law showed up as well (maybe 30% for me). Nothing extremely crazy. I used Becker and Ninja and both were very similar to what you should expect with the exam.

As for additional things to study,… I think the list you have already is plenty. I would go into some depth with ALL basis questions especially differences between s corps and partnerships and (VERY VERY IMPORTANT) know what's ‘taxable income' (ie tips, gifts, donated items etc)
