Can you transfer the CPA Credit to another state if the work requirement is too crazy and you cant find a job? I plan to fulfill education req for other states. I am not taking this exam again.

Yes, you can tranfer. Just check with the state boards of both states to see how this is done. I am from Indiana and the IN Board of Accountancy has a forms to transfer grades to IN and from IN. Good Luck.

Some states only grant CPA licenses based on experience earned while working in public accounting and only for audit/attestation experience. I earned my CPA exam credits in Michigan, but I can not get a license in Michigan since I no longer work in public accounting because the experience requirements in Michigan consist of a candidate completing an audit, review, AND compilation while under the supervision of a CPA (internal audits do not count).
I am transferring my credit to Illinois (Michigan charges $15 to complete the form) because I can use the experience I have gained in industry as a tax person to get a CPA license in IL. Illinois is a two tiered state. Meaning, I can transfer my scores to Illinois and for $345 I will get an Illinois CPA certificate. Having this certificate means I can use the CPA credential. I equate this to "Registered" status that most states have. In addition, if I want to hold myself out as a licensed CPA, I can also apply for licensing ($120), and I will be a licensed CPA in Illinois, meaning I will need CPE credits to maintain my license.
I know quite a few people in Michigan who have received their credentials in Illinois in order to be a CPA after they have left public accounting. Please do your homework when choosing a state for licensure as I am not sure you can transfer your credits multiple times. Sorry so long, but I hope this helps!

offlineMemberI didn't even have to read the rest of that comment. My state has the same audit requirements public private and govt. You practically have to be an auditor in my state. That is the whole point of me switching because I can't become an auditor if there is no jobs or hope now in my state.

offlineMemberOkay, so say I am taking the exams as an Alaskan candidate and I finish passing all four parts. I haven't yet completed the necessary education requirements to be a fully "licensed" CPA in any state. Do I have to meet the Alaska requirements before I can transfer my scores to another state? Or can I transfer the scores to the state that I want to meet the requirements in? Thanks!

offlineMemberPLS WHEN u transfer credit does it mean the original state removes u frm the list of thr candidates .....that is if u dont get approved then u are in limbo and dont belong anywhere since u have transferred all yr credits and wont have any to go back to? hope this ques wasnt too confusing...pls help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
