I am currently unemployed and actively seeking employment. I have a couple of networking events coming up and I intend to print a complimentary card. The events are not a job seeking events and most of the attendees are employed, though a few may be unemployed. Do I need to indicate on the card that I am a job seeker or I can just keep it plain with my name, address, email and numbers? I have my CPA license and I need some insights on this before I make the final print. Thanks!

Go to Vista Print. You can't create “Network Cards”. Great for networking events.

I would do something like Skynet suggested, a networking card. I would not include anything about searching for a job on the card. I would simply list the contact information you want available to the person, your linkedin, and whatever other social media you want them to be privy to.

LinkedIn may be a more appropriate place to divulge you are a job seeker, but I don't really know the proper etiquette.

Almost always from my phone... please excuse my typos!

I had cards like that made a few years ago. I included name, address, phone, email, and my LinkedIn address. I did them through Vistaprint. They have options for free ones, but I went all out and paid like $10 for more cards than I will ever hand out.

Thanks guys. I think I will just omit the job objective and will not indicate a job seeker status. I will pretty much use the same info you used ajones.

Looks like you have your answer.

BUT: I go to Wal Mart and pickup Avery stationery cards for about $10, and go to the library and print off what I need. I even put a “mini resume” on the back! It's also good if you don't need 250 Vista Print cards (though that's a GREAT option).

Contact info, career field, name, whatever is appropriate. I wouldn't put unemployed. For some reason, “professionals” are jerks about it…Having spent a fair amount of time myself during the Recession unemployed…

I don't know how I feel about self made business cards. I guess it is a good excuse to do an “exchange” and therefore get their business card – then follow up after with a linkedin message/invite expressing your interest.
