I have a phone interview with KPMG on Thursday and would need advice from guys here on what to expect. This would be my second interview. I had one early 2013 and was asked about salary expectation. I was shocked because I did not expect that question at that level, and the recruiter kind of insisted I gave an estimate, which I eventually did. At the end I got a mail the next day that i would not proceed with the next step. So I guessed that was what caused my rejection. This is the second opportunity I have and I really what to nail it this time. For those that have gone through the same process , what are the types of questions I may be asked and the responses they expect from me.And is the salary question a typical one during phone interview, if asked about that, how do I avoid giving an estimate or a specific figure. Finally, what type of question can I ask the recruiter without going too far. Thanks guys, your comment will be appreciated.

I recently had a phone interview with KPMG. The recruiter talked to me about KPMG for awhile and then asked me to walk through my resume while he took notes so he could pass it off to the business. There wasn't much to my phone interview. After that, then I was asked what I make now and what salary I was expecting. For the salary expecation question, I just said something along the lines of, I am open to salary and will take the whole benefit pacakge into consideration.

Thanks Abranaugh. So the recruiter did not insist you give a specific amount? Also, where you asked to fill an application using a link sent by the recruiter different from the initial one you used to apply?

Nope, he didn't insist on it at all. I had to fill out an application multiple times for KPMG, I couldn't tell a difference between them, but I just did it because he had sent something over and it doesn't take too long to do.
