Using Yaeger for REG?

    Hi,

I used Yaeger for BEC and FAR, which I passed, and Becker for AUD, which I passed. Now I am using Becker for REG.

I am wondering, how much does Yaeger CPA Review ask students to memorize for REG? In Becker, you can pass if you memorize the selected sentences on each page they ask you to highlight. In contrast, when I used Yaeger for BEC and FAR, we would go through most of the Wiley book. How is Yaeger REG taught? Are students asked to memorize most of the Wiley book? I took Tax in college and what we had to know was on par with what Becker tells their students to highlight; nothing too intense. Is Yaeger CPA Review the same way, or does it ask students to memorize a lot?

    Thanks,

    Jay

I used Yaeger for REG. It's a lot of memorization and unfortunately they don't have a lot of mnemonic devices to remember certain things like Becker does. I think Phil does a decent job in the taxation part of REG but the Business Law portion leaves something to be desired.

I agree with stevers11 about the tax portion. In the case of business law, the handout notes of yaeger are very good. At the time of the exam that is all you will be able to review. Tax is a tough one .. I use yaeger and passed. I don't think it matters whether you use becker or yaeger, you will need to put in some extra effort into tax. Also since you have used both y and b, you can determine which style suits you. Phil Yaeger has done a decent job, but you will need to read wiley book too not all of it. Y surely covered the topics that get hit in the exam.

Reg I feel is the toughest exam to prepare for, the exam itself is not that difficult , that is how I felt. Good luck.

    AUD - 84
    REG - 82

I've been happy with Yaeger for REG, other than the fact I'm experiencing a Phil overdose right now (I think 38+ hrs of lecture from the same person can be annoying regardless).

The lectures and demonstrations are generally thorough (too thorough at times) and well-explained. There are a few small errors scattered throughout the course, but they are fairly obvious. I also especially liked the handouts for Business Law.

I have my exam on Thursday and just started the CRAM today. I'm feeling confident with the material now, and am just trying to brush up on some the pure memorization. It should be noted that I just took individual tax last fall & corp/part/estate/trust tax during the spring, and I feel like Phil explained the content much more clearly and concisely than either one of my tax professors.

    REG (July 2014) - Pass
    AUD (Aug 2014) - Pass
    FAR - (Nov 2014) - Pass
    BEC - (Dec 2014) - Pass

    Licensed Colorado CPA (February 2015)

    DONE!!!!
