VA CPA – Need info about Ethics Test

I recently passed all 4 sections (phew!), and would like to get CPA License from VA. However, I am struggling to find info about the Ethics Test. I have three specific questions:

    1. What is the structure of the AICPA Ethics test? Multiple choice or descriptive? Is it open book? Is a sample test available anywhere?

    2. How do I prepare for this Ethics Test? Is there any course material or book I should purchase to study?

    3. For VABOA, do I have to attend an Ethics Seminar, or do have to take a test in addition to attending the seminar?

I have tried last 15 days to obtain info, but haven’t been successful. I will highly appreciate any guidance.

congrats on passing, all your hard work has paid off!

go here to get info more in general.

as for your license, if you passed the exam in the year of application, you only need the AICPA Ethics exam (MC format); and you won't need the VA ethics course. you have up to 3 tries for this for 90%+ score. if you fail it 3 times, it gets little complicated so go thru the course in its entirety.

If I can do it, you can do it too!

Thanks hokinizeu. I now understand that I have to pass just the AICPA Ethics Test with 90%+ in 3 or fewer attempts. Is that a multiple choice exam? Typically how many questions? Finally, is it open book?

yes, it's MC format. the questions are the same on your 1st try, 2nd try etc. i think it was like 45 questions and yes it's open book, internet and other sources. you have choice to go for on-demand version vs textbook version. do not undermine this exam, i got 84% without going through the entire module (even with some research via internet). go through the modules, do your due diligence. honestly, some questions aren't plain ethics related but specific knowledge related.

If I can do it, you can do it too!

Excellent. Thank you very much for sharing your experience. I plan to do that, so that I can study anywhere, and I will get my results instantly. Did you use the on-demand version as well?
